:seeya: Good Morning Y'all !

:great: I think Mr. Martinez did a :great: job nailing JA and her LIES yesterday !

I watched the morning testimony but missed the afternoon testimony because of "real life" ...

But from what I saw yesterday and reading the comments here, I think Mr. Martinez is handling Jodi perfectly !

And I think the reason he came out "blasting" like he did was to show the jury the REAL JODI ARIAS ...

She had a very INDIGNANT, DEFIANT look and kept smirking the entire time Mr. M was questioning her ... she did NOT have that "mousy, abused woman" look she FAKED when her DT was questioning her ...

She is one :silenced: ... I don't want to get a vacation ... lol !

:moo:

Her arrogance and smirking bothered me at first, then I realized the jury can see her "poor submissive little me" act was nothing but a self-serving act to save her own life.

You da best! I kept thinking Dear Alexander. Wonder why?

I'm off today and court is dark so rather than cleaning the house, I shall watch this. My hubby will be so pleased!

My hubby was watching it with me and had to get up and leave. He is soo unemotional during movies- he tells me I cry too easy lol- but this one really got to him.. It effected me for weeks (still does sometimes).. it's absolutely heartwrenching..

I've done an about face on this case. I bought into the notion that it takes two, and although I never believed TA was a pedo, I thought it was possible he was a jerko supreme to her, and due to her pathology, she flipped her lid.

I watched every day of her testimony, including yesterday. Now, I completely buy in to BritsKate version of why TA continued to even speak to her, how he absolutely couldn't shake her, how having sex with her was a way to keep her soothed and ?contained, and I am certain of his growing fear of her. I think the only way TA could have escaped death from Jodi would've been to go in to a witnss protection program.

Jodi is a very dangerous con, who will kill again, wrapped up in a body and face that could fool many long enough to get too close.

Oh Lord. As if I'm not traumatized enough by this trial. But I'm so curious, I can't help myself.

Off to watch it now, if I can pull myself away from WS, which is a feat in itself.

Just wanted to remind everyone that even though no court is today, Beth Karas will be hosting In Session for 2 hours this morning (not sure when exactly) but she has some very interesting observations of Juan Martinez yesterday and exactly what he was doing and why. she found the whole strategy "brilliant" and thought he was not too aggressive or anything else.

Please if you can watch her, I think you will find her observations this morning as you know I find Beth karas the smartest and most informed observer of this entire thing. But that's just me. ;)

She is my favorite. I can't wait! (on my Verizon FIOS In Session appears to start at 9:00am PST channel 183 TruTV) I'll grocery shop now at 7am and rush back. I think he was wonderful and not a bit too harsh, he has Jodi's number and knew exactly how her type would have to be handled in my opinion...

I thought it was absolutely brilliant the way Juan gained control of her. IMO he came out swinging and random disjointed order because he knew she wouldn't be able to remember what she previously said on the stand. Liars can't remember unless the story is linear. Only the truth can be told in any random order.

Then, knowing she's a psychopath and incapable of accepting responsibility he asked her what HER problem was with her memory. She blames his screaming and grilling her, the tone and demeanor. Immediately he lowers his voice and changes his tone.

She still can't remember because she's a liar left without an excuse! She then pokes her chin out in defiance! She thinks she won and smugly starts answering his yes no questions!

It was spectacular!

i'm picturing the list of lies he'll be able to put into a big presentation for the jury in closing arguments. it will be very, very long. there will be no doubt that jodi doesn't even have a passing acquaintance with the TRUTH.

more importantly, the jury will know by then that she would never, ever cower or tolerate any kind of abuse. she's the abuser. travis was the abused. she manipulated him with sex. they'll see how she acts when her control is threatened and it ain't pretty.

I think he might go over each lie reading them in a line before he finishes his cross. Defense will rebut the ones they feel they can and then during rebuttal Juan will call those witnesses who will testify that she was lying. That would nail her for good. Closing statements I would imagine will include them all and a recap of the witnesses who verified she was lying.

Anyone know what she returned to Darryl's house? I know Darryl said she returned to get the gas cans but Juan said she brought him a package/something she brought back to his house before she left for Mesa. Jodi claims she does not know but from the look on her face she surely does know and my guess is Darryl told the prosecutors. It should get a lot more interesting.

I just wanted to bring this post by jusdafacts forward in answer to some of your questions about whether or not the Defense knew about the magazines or not. They knew, but I think they were so happy about getting JA's claim allowed into court about TA's supposed pedophilia that they forgot that it also opened the door to everything that was brought out in the pre-trial hearing regarding these magazines and some letters they submitted as supposed proof that TA was a pedophile. The letters were proven to be forgeries rendering JA claims of pedophilia just hearsay. Here is what happened next.

Just wanted to clarify something for you K_Z .... The judge determined that this hearsay evidence WAS admissible during a closed hearing on February 7th.

"...in a closed hearing Thursday, lawyers for the defense and the prosecution argued over whether Arias, who was in attendance, should be allowed to testify that she walked in on Alexander while he was masturbating to photographs of young boys.

Judge Sherry Stephens unsealed the transcript of the hearing after she determined that the evidence was admissible.

According to the transcript of Thursday’s hearing, Arias told psychological counselors and a domestic-violence expert that in January 2008, six months before she killed him, Arias walked in on Alexander in his bedroom when he had photos of young males spread out on his bed.

The abuse expert testified by telephone during Thursday’s hearing that at least two unspecified instances of domestic violence by Alexander occurred after that. She posited that Arias, knowing such a troubling secret about Alexander, would heighten the level of fear she had for Alexander and his need to exert control over her.

Martinez claimed that Arias had alternately said that Alexander was viewing pictures on a computer and viewing printed photographs. Furthermore, he brought two Mesa police investigators to the witness stand to say that they had found no pornographic images of any kind on Alexander’s computer, nor had they found photographs in his house.

Martinez had sought to block the testimony, but Stephens ruled that it was admissible and that Martinez would have ample opportunity to cross-examine Arias on the witness stand.

Friends, I don't even know how much longer I can do this. I can't see her face without wanting to rip it off. I can't hear her voice of lies without wanting to stab my ears with knitting needles. I don't think I've ever had such hatred for a human being. Literally. Ever.
But as we freaks who love trials know, I won't be able to turn away. Sigh...

I feel the same way. I've only recently started following this case and yet the sort of emotions I have towards that despicable creature is more than words can say.

I'm watching the cross all over again today. By the time this trial is over the jury will be convinced of three things:

1. Arias intended to murder and did murder Travis in the most heinous way possible.
2. Arias not abused in any way by Travis
3. Arias abused Travis

Unfortunately I lived with a male version of JA and the reason they never give a straight answer is that they are trying to figure out where you are going with it, in other words they are trying to stay a step ahead of you. FWIW he attempted to kill me when I tried to move on.

So sorry for what you went through. You must have been married to my ex that tried to do the same thing to me.

I am sooooooo glad Beth gets it. I can't believe some of these TV attorneys that are critical of his technique. Could be they are not practicing attorneys. I love the man for trying to clear Travis' name for the family. God Bless him. jmo

With all those memory lapses, how does she remember how to dress herself in the morning? :D

I heard that Arias threw Darryl under the bus. Can someone please tell me what happened? I didn't watch the early stages of the trial.

There is a very calculated reason he has to take those side roads and go off on those tangents, imo. Because she is such a prolific liar and shape shifter, he does not want to telegraph to her exactly where he is heading.

While it is nice for the jury to hear big declarative statements about where he is going with his questions, it makes it too easy for her to fashion her bogus answers beforehand. If you want to catch someone in a lie, you cannot go in a linear, organized fashion, or they will be a step ahead of you.

Remember when he kept going at her to tell him what time she went to TA's and saw him with the child pictures? He already knew that there was a very very small window of time that day, and she did too. He was trying to trap her. He might have gotten just the tips of her toes in the trap with that line of questioning, because she wouldn't commit to an exact time. But then suddenly we saw the texts with her correct work time, and the texts between them, discussing mundane subjects, and then he veers off into the journal, and she get hardly get her bearings.

So, although it makes it harder for the jury, it also makes it harder for her. And THAT is the most important element right now. He doesn't need to make it all tight and buttoned up for the media, the press or the audience, he only needs to connect with the jury. And I think they are right on top of it.
awesome post!!!! ITA!!!:rocker:

I don't understand how anyone would want JM to be softer. What would the point of a soft cross be? Jodi has already confessed that she lied a lot and claims not to remember stabbing Travis. If JM used a soft approach then Jodi would simply say 'yes I lied, I was scared' and 'I'm sorry, I don't remember'. (Frankly I thought she would use that soft tactic with lots of apologies and tears). Also, how in the world can anyone present evidence of first-degree murder by being soft? What a contradiction.

JM's tough approach is revealing her true personality in all its ugliness. He trapped her. She is dumber than dumb to have fallen for it. She can't help herself. When she is challenged she forgets the trial and even that her life is on the line. She can't help herself. Her aggressive, violent and crazy nature comes out merely at the sight of a person like JM. I could see the change in her demeanour before she even uttered a single word at the start of cross yesterday. This is brilliant work by our dedicated prosecutor.

I'm with you..I think he is doing truly an awesome job. He needs to get the facts and just the facts....not sitting there listening to her babbling all the time. I agree he is a dedicated prosecutor who truly is an advocate for the victim.

:great:Keep up the AWESOME work Juan:great:

In the Casey Anthony Trail, the jurors didn't even get to first base in understanding the difference between direct evidence and circumstantial evidence based on their post trial interviews much less running to second base to understand "reasonable doubt."

I surely hope this jury doesn't have the "CSI Effect" understanding the difference between a circumstantial trial and direct evidence trial.

But in this case there is also plenty of CSI evidence. My gosh they even have photos showing when he died and what he was doing just minutes before being murdered and by whom. TOD usually is an guesstimate but not in this one.

Jurors understand CE cases everyday. It is the most common evidence entered in trials. So they get it and this jury will too.

As a juror in the past I prefer CE cases rather than Direct. They really are easier to understand and each peice is linked together until reasonable doubt is no more.

IMO

good morning all :seeya:

Im catching up on the posts from yesterday.....but I have a thought.

About the nail salon - and the nails/hair....

I need to see the picture that Travis took of her lying on his bed with her hair in braids. Why????? Because I believe her hands are flat on his bed.... if they are, then we should be able to tell if her nails are done. If they are, then ok, maybe she had them done that day as she says - if they are NOT done - then she ONLY DIED HER HAIR at the salon........

We know she didnt buy the dye (or that we have seen anyway) so I believe that may be the onbly way to know for sure if she is lying about the nails.... I dont remember seeing her nails done in ANY pictures, but then again, I havent really been looking at them and most of her photos are more from the chest up, as opposed to the whople body.

Am I making sense?

So..... anyone want to link me to that picture. PLEASE :please:, I would like to find one that doesnt show her bubbies and her whoohaa.... thanks!
