I would think this would be very, very embarrassing, especially for a Mormon guy.

I don't see a thing "slimy" about the witness. Am I missing something? He just seems like a young man telling the truth about what happened. If he wanted to really make her look bad and truly was slimy, he would have said they had hot and steamy sex. I am not seeing slimy.

Gosh, I didn't either. Not at all.

I don't understand why people think that Mormon girls he dated would get treated badly. JA was met through work
and he met her and had sex with her in a week. He is not going
to put on a show for her because he is more a part of the church
than she is. He is not going to tell a girl that was raised in the church
and is just as credible in the church as he is that she should let him
put it in her butt.

The biggest flaw I see so far in this case is that there is no proof
of this stalker behavior. Travis saying it is not
enough. It needs to be someone who saw the slit tires or
saw her show up uninvited. Something that confirms it
other than just Travis said it. If they leave that open it leaves
questions. Questions equals LWOP not death. They need to say
Travis may have given her the wrong impression but he did not
hit her and she certainly wasn't threatened by him.

BBM. As you know, the case has just begun. I see others have responded to this but apparently there are witnesses who were victims of her stalking themselves (a new girlfriend of Travis') and who saw the tires after they were slashed. Also, conversations with Travis in which he spontaneously complained about stalking behavior, like hacking, may be relevant and may tend not to flow with efforts to cover up his desire for her.

Question : Has there been any "word" about the jury ? I know I know ... ya NEVER KNOW with juries -- BUT this is a DP case ...

So I was wondering IF there has been any news at all on the jury : their reactions ... are they interested ... how is the Judge treating them (I hope she is NOT treating this jury like Judge Perry did) ... etc. ?

Unfortunately, I have not been able to follow this trial as I had planned to here at WS, but have been able to watch some of it on the tube ...

I don’t agree or disagree with the line of questioning but it appears to me that the defense is trying to show a contradiction in his character. Since this is a death penalty case I would think more than the usual amount of latitude would be allowed. He presented himself one way to his fellow mormons and another way to “”. We keep hearing what a devout mormon he was, when in fact we now know he had a sexual relationship with JA and compromised himself in the eyes of his church. In other words, defense is trying to show he lied about that indiscretion (a sin of omission?) and was capable of more lies and more deviant behavior and more omissions?

I agree. That's what they are trying to do, as well as to assassinate his character in general so that the jury may be less sympathetic to the victim. And that could work as I sense that some people who have been treated badly by men may project their anger onto Travis and see this whole thing as merely an "unpleasant" eventuality or unfortunate result of two people fighting after one acts like a player.

I feel sorry for Ryan. He was sucked into her web of lies. Having no clue about who she really was. And now he is being dragged through the mud because of her.

I do too. I know unmarried Mormon guys. I can see how they would be great targets for a psychopath: Not very street wise, usually not that experienced when it comes to sex, sometimes more naive, etc.

I know he is the victim in this case, but I can still express my opinion of his character. And nowhere did I say JA was a saint.

I understand completely. He denies her existence as someone he is actively engaged with. He projects an image of upstanding moral Mormon. It helps his image, status and business. He is a marketeer, after all, and apparently pretty good at it. Everyone believes him. She is a pariah. Since she is a secret and isolated, who would believe her?

In my mind, that is the root cause of her rage....humiliation, despair and zero validation that she is worth more than a 2-bit in the eyes of everyone. Yet he actively continues to engage in a relationship with her. I get it why she didn't/couldn't break away, but many who are unfamiliar with emotional abuse probably won't be able to understand.

But it doesn't justify his murder! Unless it can be shown there was a pattern of violent abuse (IMO) and that she was "reasonably afraid" (vs psycho raging).

True. Even if he was a hypocrite, that is irrelevant to a claim of self defense and the judge should not, IMO, allow such character assassination. Unless they can produce evidence that he was controlling and violent, how is any of it relevant?

Because the Defense is afraid she will stab them with anything bigger? IMO

I actually don't think she's allowed normal pens or pencils!

IMO she thought she had traded up by starting a relationship with Travis. She wanted to leave. She wasn't emotionally invested in him, she's not capable. IMO she was pissed off because she wanted something from him. It wasn't his love, it was something else. She wanted to be a respected married church woman? she wanted the trips? I am not sure exactly. But she did not love him. She thought she owned him and was due something she didn't get.

Bingo Linda. Jodie was invested but IMO it wasn't emotionally, in love type of bond it was the beautiful home, nice looking hubby, great income that she was after. I think she wanted Travis to love her because she heard that is what normal people want and that will get her what she wants ie the nice stuff, the trips, the home/cars.

Every time I look at Jodi, I also see her :furious:, and it really pizzes me off! Maybe if JA and kept her blonde hair, it might have helped....

Apparently, she's gotten whatever she has wanted through all kinds of sex, and she has been riding high. How high will she fly in a women's prison?

IMO that's why she appeared shy in front of other people. She excels at manipulating men one on one. In front of others, she's not that good at faking normal.

I might have missed something. Do we know for a fact that the camera with the death pics on it was TA's and not JA'S. She was a "photographer" also.
