Jodi Arias Trial discussion, #3

"There can be no doubt that many people in early Utah lost their lives because of the doctrine of blood atonement. John D. Lee, who had been a member of Joseph Smith's secret Council of Fifty, related the following:

The most deadly sin among the people was adultery, and many men were killed in Utah for that crime....Klingensmith and his company then cut Anderson's throat from ear to ear and held him so that his blood ran into the grave."

http://www.utlm.org/newsletters/no56.htm

Mormon blood atonement went through my mind for a second when I heard JA slit TA's throat. I find it highly unlikely JA knew about that. Lots of younger and even older (50s) Mormons don't know about that little blip in Mormon history. It is not something the missionaries teach ir something that would even be brought up in church now. Even the temple death penalties (and not only for adultry) have been taken out. Don't ask me how I know LOL!

I can't find another explanation that makes any real sense as to why there was so many trips made with that cup full of water to wet that entire area.

because she couldn't stand him up in the shower to rinse him off

The defense has not yet presented their case, therefore it's impossible to have heard their evidence. Whatever they have is yet to come. They have an entire section of this trial to present evidence and witnesses, AFTER the prosecution finishes.

I paid attention to the defenses opening statement. Not impressed!

Admitted that in HER interview? Lol which one?

She obliterated Travis and skipped away without a care in the world. No remorse. And most importantly...ZERO fear of getting caught. Calm and cool as a cucumber in all of her interviews. That's not the trait of someone love obsessed or insecure.

All IMO

I agree with your POV most of the time but respectfully insecurity can manifest itself totally opposite of what most think. Insecurity = mousey, scared etc.

A friend introduced me to her co-worker. My friend described him as arrogant. I met him and I walked away with the impression that his arrogance was to cover up his to me obvious insecurities. The ego is a weird thing and when people feel threatened emotionally they can react in various ways overbaring/stockerish/sexual/needy/aggressive etc.

because she couldn't stand him up in the shower to rinse him off

I don't think it had anything to do with cleaning his body. I think she showered when finished standing over a dead Travis in that shower. She may have even stood ON him to do it.

Are there any statistics of women who were sexually, verbally or physically abused and killed their abuser, but didn't call police?

At this point her side has not told their story but to me
it's already clear that its possible Travis was very different
than people thought
.
If its fun to you to just follow what the press says that's your prerogative
but that's not good enough for me. At least you admit
that you have closed your mind off.

How when no one who knew Travis has even testified yet? We have Jodi Arias' account of Travis' violent tendencies with nothing else to lend veracity at this point - including her own actions and behavior which are, in my opinion, totally inconsistent with domestic abuse survivors. Her account -when we know of at least two occasions she lied to law enforcement regarding her role.

"Fun" rooting for the "good guy"? Really? There's nothing fun about this. This man was slaughtered by a woman who has ZERO evidence of being a victim of domestic violence at his hands and has presented herself to be a controlling, manipulative, cruel, psychopath.

Travis doesn't have to be "lilly white".

I'm incredibly insulted by JA using the self-defense and domestic violence argument as her legal defense because it's people like her who taint the system and make REAL dv victims struggle to have the same defense work for them. It's dispicable how she keeps twisting and using those around her. THAT'S what's insulting.

Also, you mentioned people not being interested in facts:

Excellent post.

Be mindful.....the defense often reads here to see how the case is going. I've seen it more than once;)

That isn't true. How do you know that 97% of everyone here has made up their mind? Made up their mind on what? She's already admitted to killing him. She's not denying it. What are we to make our minds up about? Take a look at the damage she did to his body and come back and post that this was self-defense.

I am by no means saying she's innocent or even that the self defense is what happened. I am saying that in spite of what emotions
this whole thing stirs up in me I am willing to believe there is
more to this than meets the eye.

I have read all of these posts. A large percent are speculation
on how she is an evil woman who seduced him with sex and he didn't
have a chance cuz he was so innocent. Tons of average joes thinking they know that
she's void of emotion because Nancy Grace told them so.

The younger pics of Ryan Burns I saw, show an actually thinner, pretty good looking guy. I believe I googled "Ryan Burns Prepaid Legal Sean, Utah" and looked at the google images posted.

He is VERY big. Once he stands up and comes closer, you can really see it through his suit.

Yeah but how many days did it take you to come to that conclusion? Ok maybe not days but it did not occur to you right away, so I am to think that Jodie came up with it, maybe she did but I will never be able to wrap my head around how stupid it was to delete pics. And surely she did not think Tide would eliminate all the pics.

Removing a memory card takes a split second, actually deleting pics using a camera's multi-delete function takes longer. Everyone's knows, at least I thought did, that when you delete something it is simply just moved, easily recoverable.

Just take the damn card! One second and she would have her trophy pics for later.

This is why I say there is not premeditation, planning of a crime.....HOWEVER I admit that there is premeditation in the form that can be made in a split second and then extreme rage and over-kill No doubt a jury will want to make someone pay for what happened from the pics in evidence, and that person is Jodie.

Agree with you and am familiar with the experience you had.

I just don't see that in Jodi.

Jodi IMO is an empty shell of a human being. She's incapable of love as normal people experience it. She has no fear, no remorse. She cool, calm and collected. Her affect is always a bit off when she can't mimic appropriate responses or she hasn't accumulated a response in her arsenal.

Dr. Drew is trying to give a new twist to the diagnosis by implying she might have a multiple personality disorder. Shame on you, TV Doctor!

This is why I say there is not per-meditation, planning of a crime.....HOWEVER I admit that there is per-meditation in the form that can be made in a split second and then extreme rage and over-kill No doubt a jury will want to make someone pay for what happened from the pics in evidence, and that person is Jodie.

I think she didn't know just how hard he would hold onto & fight for his life. It didn't go like SHE planned.

She made mistakes. She won't be the first or last murderer to do so. That's how they get caught;)

If she took the time to delete the shower pictures, why not the rest??

I think she deleted ALL the photos from the day, including the naked pictures.

I'm well aware that he was murdered and how disgusting it is.

But that wasn't my question.

I see that you have convicted the defendant in your mind, and that's fine. I am considering their relationship as potentially being more complex that what his friends portray. I don't know yet. I just posed a question.

I am also curious about why, if you don't want to hear the "other side" do you subject yourself to observing the trial?

I accept your POV. Please accept mine.

I don't have a problem hearing the "other side". But, like most websleuthers, I don't buy it and I'm not here to give it a fair chance.

See this site, primarily, is a crime fighting site. It's a site for those who support victims, survivors and their families - not defendants. It's about finding out what happened to the missing or murdered person and who committed the crime and it's about getting justice and getting the bad guys.

Well, we know jodi arias killed Travis Alexander. Almost all of us here have listened to her coldly lie about her involvement, calmly change her story and try to b.s. the world by sweetly singing Christmas carols. We have now almost all heard about Travis' injuries and how he died. We have heard from Travis' friends and family about what a snake this woman was, how scary and stalkerish. We have heard evidence that points clearly to premeditation. Zero evidence has been presented thus far showing arias was battered or abused. And believe me, I don't know how long you have followed crimes and trials, but if they had such evidence, it would have been leaked all over the place far in advance of trial.

So yeah, I know she's guilty. Just like I did with casey anthony and scott peterson and josh powell. I am not an impartial juror sitting there weighing the evidence.

But lets say I was. Let's say websleuths was not about advocacy but was instead about playing juror. Whether or not Travis Alexander pretended arias didn't exist all the while he was enjoying her sexually, is 100% irrelevant to whether or not arias killed him or whether or not it was self defense. The question posed in your post has nothing to do with a legal question regarding a defense claim. Instead, IMO, the only purpose it serves is to express the view or plant the idea that this victim kind of asked for what he got. He kind of deserved it a little. And I'm sorry, but I have a real darn problem with that. Maybe that's because I don't hate men, I don't know.

But to the point of your question, no. I do not think it is disgusting at all. I think, if he was lying about contact with her, it evidences shame about his poor judgment and conduct that went against the mores of his religion. It could evidence some hypocrisy. But disgusting? Not at all. My response I felt showed that clearly, by pointing out, by way of comparison, that on the scale of evil, there was barely a change in level and that the question, in light of why there is trial at all in this case, is baffling.

I certainly accept your point of view but I definitely don't have to agree with it.

RIP Travis
Justice will prevail

Some of us living in foreign countries are totally unable to rely upon media and Nancy Grace. ;)

Some of us, nope, a lot of us are using personal experience and knowledge to form our opinions. Mostly like we do in many cases we follow.

He's such a tool
