sounds like the DA is trying to pull out the 'truths' in all of Jodi's lies. Geesh!

Yes this EXACTLY. I really really do think the sequestration played a HUGE role in the jury acquitting Casey. They simply just wanted to go home and didn't care one way or the other about being a juror anymore.

I think, if possible, judges need to make jury service as accommodating as they can in terms of letting jurors continue with their normal life. Rather than make them give up everything for a case, if they can help it.

I agree. In a certain high profile case in LA there were reports of the sequestered jurors going stir crazy in the hotel - they had no TVs. One juror one time ran down the hotel hallway screaming I can't take this any more.

I suspect sequestering the jury makes them hostile to the State. It's better to just trust them not to watch NG or JVM. I also think that by the end of the day they're just so done with it they're not interested. THe only thing they'd be interested in is stuff happening when they're not in the room, like dismissal motions, which is what they shouldn't be aware of.

When I was a juror, I really appreciated starting at 10 - let me avoid traffic driving into court, made the morning less frantic. The longer lunch was good because our courthouse is 15 stories and as all courts break for lunch the cafeteria and local eateries get really busy.

The Defense is like a boring SNL skit

The defense attorney just opened up this huge line of questioning for the prosecutor that could be even more damaging to the defense. Dumb dumb dumb on the part of defense attorney.

LE are allowed to use interrogation techniques, it shouldn't make a difference, if you're innocent of the crime...

If that's the case, this is going to be a short trial! :)

I hate it when Flores does his 'selective memory' thing. He doesn't have to do this, I think he loses integrity when he does it.

i think he has to especially since the time lapse - if he doesn't remember something word for word and tries to make a comment about it - the defense can say he is misleading or lying

Normally this trial runs Mon.-Thurs.
Next week, court is only in session Wed.-Thurs.

It isn't just this judge. We had the same situation with the Tammi Smith and Elizabeth Johnson's trials. In EJ's, we even had an extended break for one reason or another.

I think he indicated that he was not the one to interview the other girlfriend.

I love this prosecutor, he is very good. Showing the jury all of the different lies that Jodi has told.

IMO

I do wish the detective had not made TV appearances before trial. Not that I think it will matter in the end.

  • #993
I think Flores is an amazingly effective detective, that being said, I agree with you completely.

I also wish he didn't go on 48 hrs...

I've looked all over for Picture Perfect (48 hours Mystery, season 22, episode 17, March 7, 2009) and can't find it anywhere?

How can one episode out of all the others be pulled from the entire internet? I wanna see it!

We're sleuthers, we can find anything! :great:

Not meaning to be unkind, but I wonder if DT dude's "new practice" is going to suffer for his performance at this trial. Just sayin.......

I don't think that's unkind. At least IMO it's a great opportunity for anyone looking to hire him to see him in action. Based on everything I've seen so far, I'd probably look elsewhere for an attorney. But I suppose all that matters is the verdict and saving her life so he's still got time to shine.

His performance is not to my personal liking but that's JMO.

Video of Jodi in interrogation (before her arrest) mentioned in this morning testimony . . .

JA saying she dated Travis from beginning of Feb thru June - 5 months
She was going to move in with a girlfriend but she is "kinda flighty"
Travis is very pursuasive - moving to Mesa - the church in the area is very strong
At that time she was living across town near Greenfield and Broadway?
The girl she was thinking of moving in with her - she had moved in with her boyfriend - they were engaged - she and the boyfriend got married in (Vegas?) because they didn't want to live in sin - they were going to have a civil wedding and then later get sealed in the temple. The girl didn't feel it was right that JA live with a Married man (?) then

She went to LDS housing internet site = she moved out near to Travis - he found out and freaked out because it was so close to him . . . I didn't know about him and Lisa after . . . (cuts off)

Det interviewed by DA - does Lisa Andrews ring a bell? yea but I don't remember taking to her - threatening email - slashing tires - oh yes I remember her now.

Miss Andrews was dating TA?
I don't remember (Det

Don't think she planned this but it got out of control - is that technique?
yes
Don't see a cold blooded murder - is that technique?
yes

JA said no reason ever want to hurt or harm TA - you said I don't think you ever wanted to . . . more technique?
yes

Techniques that you employ on a suspect - you were interviewed by news program 48 hrs = no need to use these techniques when with a reporter?
No
Not the same techniques use for suspect and reporter?
I was trying to figure out where she was going with the story
The interview w/48 hrs was several months after the 7/15 interview?
Yes

Clear up . . . several interviews with JA - snippets of phone calls and many thoroughout the course of investigation - dozen or so. . . . during any of those times did she tell you she worked @ Margaritaville?
I don't remember - she did mention Casa Ramos - I had never heard of it before

There is an element of truth to make a lie more positive (sounding) . . . . she told you a story about intruders - one male and one female - during this story she said she ran into a closet - she said Travi was shot but still alive - she said she got hit on back of head and physically indicated that- said there was a knife and gun involved - in her story the female was the aggressor - she also said he was bleeding everywhere - she said she was wearing striped pants - said she was scared - freaked out of her mind -

All answered yes

No further questions

Cross Exam

All those techniques work out for you in this interrogation?
Not very well - never got the truth

Told you a second story - intruders . . . . Was there yet another story?
Yes she now says she was there and she did it.

Any of these techniques you were trained did they work @ all?
Not really - there were some truths and I don't know which ones

She told you the shot was first?
Yes
Did you believe that?
Yes I actually believed that.
Is that what you believed when you talked to Dr. Kevin Horn?
yes
Did you talk to Dr.Horn about you feeling the shot was first?
I didn't have that conversation with him.
The defendant told you the shot came first
Yes (she said) the shot came first

You told her she was out of control not a cold blooded murderer - was that a technique or something you believed?
Part of my technique to get out what happened.

WEnt on 48 hrs and told them it was a technique - also went onto interview others who gave interviews to 48 hrs right?
Objection
Approach!
