Johnna and her mother Sherry were last seen in Richmond, Missouri around midnight on June 6, 1986. Ronald Wrisinger, Sherry's husband, said his wife had left him for a veterinarian and taken Johnna (the youngest of their 3 children) with her. Ronald's brother reported the two missing on September 16. All of Sherry and Johnna's personal belongings, including uncashed paychecks, were left behind.
A few months prior to the disappearance, their family began receiving threatening letters, being victims of car vandalism, and more. The FBI got involved and all incidents stopped.
At first, authorities believed Johnna and Sherry may have left of their own accord, like Ronald said. But in 2009, Ronald was charged with first-degree murder. However, in 2010, the charges were dropped because of the death of a key witness. Ronald has always maintained his innocence.
Johnna and Sherry have never been found, but foul play is suspected due to the circumstances involved.
