Jose Baez to read Casey Anthony's Statement regarding her daughter's memorial

Who has a loved one cremated and lets them sit at the funeral home?
Nobody I know.

You can be cremated and HAVE a funeral. And people can go to the graveside and see the urn and urn holder buried in a plot in a cemetery.

Funeral homes encourage having BOTH a funeral and graveside service even if you are cremated.

Everyone who is cremated doesn't sit in an urn in somebody's house or get scattered.

There can still be a headstone and a grave or any and all to visit. My mother-in-law was cremated and we had a funeral, grave and headstone for her.

YES, it was JBean, I've mentioned her Memorial in a couple of posts.

However, there was some 'flack' afterward about it by some.

I cried from beginning to end and I am glad it was televised. That murder hit us a lot like this one and I wanted to celebrate her life.
I went to closing arguments with other WS members. When my sister handed Erin a bouquet of flowers and they hugged, it just made us realize that Erin was just a mom like many of us and we could identify with her pain.

yes, casey was throwing verbal stones at her mother, and telling us the public that she is going to be acquitted.

Casey - 2 pts
Cindy - 1 pt
Public - 0 pts

after the memorial:
Casey 2 pts
Cindy - 2 pts
public - 0 pts

after the trial the public will even the score!
IMO

GREAT first post! Welcome.

I agree with your dad, what a silly waste of money. It's good that you were able to give him what he wanted. I don't want to be cremated but I don't want an open coffin either. I don't want people looking up my nose and saying I look unnatural....as if a corpse is supposed to look natural.

LOL- he didnt even want us paying out money for a nice urn. He wanted us to keep his ashes in a large coffee tin.:D

Cremation isnt always a money saver. Laying my dad to rest still cost over 8 grand (lucky my dad wasnt around to see the bill)...no different to a burial.

Alot of things seem ghoulish until your up close and personal with death. I snipped off some of my dads hair to keep after he died. It was special to me because i always gave him haircuts. and even at the age of 55 and after having chemo he still had a full head of hair. I keep it with his ashes along with the facecloth I used to wash down his body as he lay dying. Weird maybe to some folks, but my last moments with my dad were beautiful and brought alot of closure - not ugly or scary.

My grandmother's boyfriend was cremated, and he didn't have a service at all. Matter of fact, his wishes were to be immediately cremated. My grandmother was his significant other, however he had no children, and no other living relatives.

You can choose to have services or not to have services when you are cremated.

We had a funeral for my mother-in-law. My husband and I will be cremated but do not want services. You can also choose for your urn to be buried or not. If you are buried you can choose a headstone.

Every option is available to those who are cremated except for a viewing.

BINGO! We have a winner! I have no doubt that's the reason. Cremation is a few hundred dollars and a funeral w/casket, vault, burial plot, headstone, etc. costs THOUSANDS of dollars.

Wow! We must have done something wrong. Our son was placed in a special casket for cremation. We had a viewing and a church funeral just before he was cremated. The church service was entirely free, but the funeral home ,casket and cremation came to over $6,000 dollars. That was four years ago.We didn't even get an urn.My husband wanted to make something. We did get 4 lockets filled with his ashes. We were given the option of burial, but I prefer to have the remains home with me.
Someone mentioned awhile back that Cindy wanted her cremated so she could retain control over Caylee's remains. The truth of that statement struck me ,as I feel the same way. It's hard to let go ,even when you know those ashes are just ashes .

We had a viewing[wake] and the casket was brought to the church the next morning. The cremation was after that.

I'm still perplexed by what this statement was trying to accomplish. Why state: "I know they had her cremated." How does that belong in a statement to the public?

  • #371
This is what she sent out to the public?

I miss Caylee and can't go to her funeral - obviously because they won't let me out of here for some ridiculous, stupid reason. I told my parents to give her a small private funeral with a real casket and a headstone because I am gong to go visit her and tell her how much I love her when I get out of here. I am going to go a lot too. But no. Not them. They cremated her for spite! And now they are having a really big party with cameras and speakers and everything at a place that can fit 5,000 people! They could have spent this money on me and my defense and I am really angry and so freaking frustrated for only the second time, maybe third time, since I got here after all that happened. Whatever. I can't go anyway. I hate them. I don't even know why anyone would want to go; I'm not going to be there, just my family.

This is what she sent out to the public?

I miss Caylee and can't go to her funeral. I asked that there would be a small private funeral for family and that Caylee be buried in a casket with a headstone to mark her grave. I gave my parents the authority to make the final arrangements. She was cremated and there is a public memorial tomorow at a church that seats 5,000 people. Whatever. I can't go anyway. I hate them

Did I tell you how much I loved the kid, did not cause her death and am innocent?

That's basically it. Casey stomping her foot and whining about not getting her way.

No wonder Baez was embarrassed to relay the "baby killers" message. I can't even call her KC anymore. She doesn't deserve a name other than "baby killer".

What a sorry excuse for a statment? The first sentence was about Caylee (a lie of course) but the rest was about her wishes. Not wanting a public memorial, not wanting the cremation. An innocent person would have #1 been begging for the reall killer to come forward #2 would be begging to even get a glimpse of the service on TV (instead of deciding not to view it at all).

This was another ploy of hers to boss her parents around and see if they ask "how high" when she says "jump". I'm so glad that CA and GA did everything "baby killer" didn't want. "baby killer" doesn't want to watch it because it will make her green with envy that she's not getting all the attention. How can a Mother not even want to watch the service on TV? Give me a break!! Doesn't that idiot realize that will come up in trial I HOPE

I truly hope the memorial goes as planned without any disruptions. That's the least we can do for Caylee. May she RIP sweet baby!!

Like she said "I'm a spiteful b*tch."

Her true colors came through!!!

Erin Runnion held a big beautiful packed to capacity service for her murdered daughter Samantha. It was in our magnificent Crystal Cathedral and led by Rev Schuller. it was a heartbreaking public event. For those of us that followed this case it was a privilege to see her honored, respected and laid to rest. It was the most moving memorial ever.
If only I had the same confidence that tomorrow's memorial for Caylee would be the same. I pray! :praying:

It seems like just another dig that her parents didn't listen to her wishes. What is so ironic is Casey is the one who the state has charged with Caylee's murder, and with disposing of her body like trash into the woods. Since when does she care about Caylee??? MOO

Sorry if this point has already been made, but I fiind it interesting that the Anthony's supposedly support their daughter but they have completely disregarded her wishes for the way she would like her daughter's remains and/or memorial dealt with. Doesn't sound very supportive to me...

IMO, Casey's words about her wishes for Caylee's burial speak loud & clear to me. It appears that she's thinking "out of sight, out of mind". If Caylee is buried in a casket, in the ground, she won't ever be faced with seeing her again. However, if Caylee is/was cremated, the A's could keep her ashes, and might even put some in a special necklace or something & wear them around their necks.(I've known people who have done this) No way Casey would want to have to see little Caylee's ashes.

I hope & pray Caylee spirit lives on and haunts Casey for the rest of her life, and that the A's do keep her ashes in one of those vials around their neck. It would serve Casey well to have to see that when or if her parents ever decided to visit her again :furious:

She doesn't care about Caylee, yet she cares that her mother cares more about Caylee then her..

EXACTLY!

My mother-in-law cremated and buried in a cemetery. Her urn holder thing was bronze. She has a headstone.

My brother's was bronze too and his headstone matched the rest of my family.

But, how do we know these were Casey's wishes before writing the statement that Baez read today? I personally don't care what Casey wanted or not since she's the one who has been charged with Caylee's death. If she was so concerned she shouldn't have killed her, or if somebody else did it, she should've called 911 when Caylee went missing. MOO
