His client is only innocent until proven guilty IN A COURT OF LAW. What the public perceives is also their right to free speech. He needs to go back to law school and learn how to file a motion and how to investigate a case - he wants EVERYONE ELSE to do the work for him. It doesn't work that way
He is not doing anything that any other attorney would do for his client with regard to motions he brings before the court. Just because the court says "motion denied" doesn't mean the motion shouldn't be asked. In fact, motions now go on record that he has asked and received certain objects of evidence. As a MATTER OF RECORD, it is important. Yes, the court found several points where he asked and was told essentially to do his own investigation; however, that does not address what I was getting at overall.
He has a client that is reprehensible in the court of public opinion and is doing his best to follow the rule of the law. I think your post is not only condescending to me but misses my point completely.
This guy is doing his job and it is easy to deflect anger at what we, the public, believe are Casey's actions in the disappearance of her daughter. It is natural to want everyone to see the "truth" as we all seem to be seeing it. That "truth" says this guy shouldn't be defending her. This "truth" says that anything he's doing is manipulative and deceitful. This "truth" as we see it suggests that anyone with a primitive brain would see she's guilty as sin and needs to be electrocuted right this minute. However, this "truth" to me says he is doing what the law allows in order to defend his client, and if people have a problem with that, they need to take that up with the Judiciary branch, and not a lawyer who is defending his client with the tools at hand.
And again, saying all that, it is not to say that the bile in my stomach doesn't rise when I think about the potential of Casey walking away free. Saying all that, it is not to say that I believe she is innocent and undeserving of electric accessories for her last moments on earth. Saying all that, it does not say anything other than the guy has a job to do and within the laws, he is doing it.
As always, my opinion, while not humble, is my own.
