Law School Hires Jose Baez To Teach Students

Ahhhh, here's the catch:

Even though students were told not to talk to Eyewitness News, several said Baez has hired FAMU students to help him work on the Anthony case outside of the classroom.
Eyewitness News was unable to reach Baez for comment.

FAMU Hires Jose Baez

I wonder how many visit and post here, just off the top of my head, I think I could think of a few..
Great way to teach though, I personally think. What better way to teach children the real happenings in this world? Send them on Baez!

Gezz. Teach what?

Sounds to me like he is looking for some free labor to put this case together via class credit.
Maybe some of his students will have a better handle on case law and legal procedures than JB seems to.

But then again, I once had a adjunt for a speech class and his only qualification was he was a former professional tennis player. I guess all of his media interviews counted for something...

Meh, 4,500 a semester is hardly a winfall. It is pretty much the going rate for grad students who might also teach classes (at my university anyway). For better or for worse the school will easily earn back that amount in the advertising having Baez' name associated with their university.

He's teaching pre-trial practice workshop. (Definitely got this job for free help on Casey's trial!)

From the schedule:
Pretrial Practice Workshop 6361 5157 301 J. Baez 3 W 6:00 pm - 8:50 pm 20 249

Ha ha! He gets less than I got as a graduate teaching assistant 20 years ago! I know adjunct professors don't get paid much, but this is ridiculous! Of course, he'll be getting an awful lot of clerical help out of it.

How is that possible?? He's an "up and coming lawyer" himself--he just became a lawyer a few years ago. Makes no sense.

This is not a prestigious appointment. It's not like he's been accepted into the faculty of the school. I'm sure they have trouble finding adjuncts for the basic classes. Most attorneys would not give up one night a week for $1,000 a month.

So True!

I believe he was asked to teach the "art" of ..........dancing around the truth, spinning the truth, weaving a fictional story out of the truth, maintaining a clients innocence regardless of the truth, distorting the truth, claiming bias regardless of the truth, and my personal favorite.......IGNORING the truth. IMO

Imagine how many oher criminals could benefit from their attorneys having enrolled for that course!

The top law schools will also often have outside counsel teach Trial Practice or Criminal Procedure. For many a year, Harvard had Jerome Facher (re: the movie "A Civil Action", starring Robert Duval and John Travolta) come in and teach.

Yeah, I don't think that is the case here ... FAMU is not a very respected school http://www.sptimes.com/2006/04/23/State/Test_results_expose_F.shtml

When officials opened the new $30-million law school building last month, a little talked about fact was that barely half of FAMU's law school grads passed the state bar exam, a requirement for practicing law.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

What's he going to teach them?

Uuhhhhmmmm, I guess, uhhmm, what to do, in court, uhhhmmm, that is. Oh, and uhhhmm, to remain seated, and uhhmmm, yeah, uuuhhhh, say "Judge," a lot. Also, uhhmmm, yeah, a smirky/smarmy set mouth is always a bonus while practicing your craft. :woohoo:

I can't believe he's teaching Pre-trial practice! What a joke! His pre-trial work is constantly getting kicked by the court-he improper files notices, improperly notices hearings, improperly files motions. Those things are the crux of pre-trial practice--this is absurd!

you guys .. he probably went into this thinking casey was being honest then found out she wasnt but by that time was too involved in the case to just back out . but i dont think he should be teaching anything  if i had been her lawyer i wouldve bowed out of this

So Baez teaches night courses in trial preparation....weird.
But that would explain why he must visit his most infamous
client (and perhaps his only client) so late at night.
