Law School Hires Jose Baez To Teach Students

Yes - he worked in Miami Dade - but that election carp was here where I am in Broward - but I guess it could have been him. Can you find the picture?

Well, I'm pretty sure there was a statewide recount, with most of the controversy occuring in Miami-Dade (the near riots) before the canvassing board stopped the recount.

I would swear on a stack of Bibles that it was Jose on the video I saw. I'm guessing that the law firm where he interned was involved somehow involved in observing the recount. This wouldn't be surprising sice

It's an interesting, but totally unrelated, and trivial side note.

p.s. I can't find the video online, but it aired on one of the cable news networks during the election. If anyone has seen the Recount movie, it's probably on there.

I don't remember too much coming out of Dade - the recount with the hanging chads and all the uppity ups happened at Broward County Courthouse - as I live right there and the media frenzy made life crazy!!!!

When JB was in Miami Dade - he worked in the public defenders office - not a private firm.

Ahhhh, here's the catch:

Even though students were told not to talk to Eyewitness News, several said Baez has hired FAMU students to help him work on the Anthony case outside of the classroom.
Eyewitness News was unable to reach Baez for comment.

i knew it!!!!!

So much for the Dream Team! Really though, I doubt very much JB will still be standing by the time we get to trial. LE knows he is an automatic "ineffective counsel" appeal issue. Time will tell...but I'd bet on it.

FAMU's law school is only provisionally accredited. With the ABA breathing down their necks to determine whether it will become fully accredited, one wonders why they'd invite controversy.

ETA: When I first read that he was to teach, my thoughts ran to the old adage, "Those who can do; those who can't teach."

The top law schools will also often have outside counsel teach Trial Practice or Criminal Procedure. For many a year, Harvard had Jerome Facher (re: the movie "A Civil Action", starring Robert Duval and John Travolta) come in and teach.

I can't believe they are PAYING him $4,500 a semester. I'm sure that's what I read! When does he have time to teach - I thought the Anthony case kept him and his 'dream team' busy 24/7!

Oh wow - can you see his name on their resume, like it's a BIG THING! All I can say is good luck coz they are gonna need it. Some things just shouldn't be - this is one of them.

Wow, I bet they can get Blogojevich to teach ethics, too.
Unreal.

Yeah...they are more like a community college for law school...wait...just like the law school that JB graduated from. Certainly not harvard. Ha!
Apparently started teaching this semester. I'm sure he is an adjunct and not a full time faculty member....still. very disturbing.

:eek::eek::eek:

Does this possibly explain a certain Todd and his need for remedial English 101? Just asking....

I wonder if their duties include monitoring Internet coverage of the case?

That's a little more than $1,100 per month.

Is he teaching "professionalism?" ;-)
