Josh allegedly visits strip club after wife disappearance?

  • #161
I saved the original video on my desktop, and it has a brunette wearing a bright pink jacket on the right with a younger announcer wearing a gray tie, and in that version it says the owner said he was wearing a ball cap at 0:57 on that video. The video has the same number, 9941987.flv, so I know it was replaced. I didn't know they'd do that, and now who do you believe.

I did not see the video, so I am just grasping at straws, but is it possible they said wool cap instead of ball cap?

Maybe that's what the strip club owner calls hats one wears for sex! Lol!

Unfortunately it once again looks like WVC police has dropped the ball on this case by not getting to these potential witnesses within the first week of the investigation.

The club scanned or otherwise recorded the driving license of everyone visiting the club, but delete the information after 7 days. If WVC had managed to get to the club before the 7 day period, they could have established beyond any doubt whether Josh was there. If he was, they could call him in to explain why this was not mentioned in his alibi.

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700015183/Police-doubt-Powell-strip-club-story.html

"As a new state law requires, the club scans drivers' licenses of patrons as they enter. Cooper said the man who entered that afternoon would have had his license scanned. That data is stored in the machine for seven days, she said."

The data would still be on the computer hard drive until it was overwritten, so even after 7 days it could very likely have been recovered.

The three eyewitnesses who have come forward are in disagreement. One is certain it was Josh, one thinks it might have been but isn't sure, and one is sure it wasn't because of his hair length.

My view: if Josh is innocent then he would have had no reason to go to this Strip Club. If he was a regular at a different club, he would have gone there.

If he's guilty, he would have been very stupid to deliberately create evidence that would destroy the alibi he was composing.

I would have loved it if the WVC had got his driver's license off the computer at Duce's, and thus had reason to call Josh in again to re-establish his alibi, but they failed and now have to catch him by other means.

Surely there are traffic cams near the strip club location? Could reviewing footage taken on that particular day between the hours of 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM given the police the evidence they needed? We'll never know because the footage probably isn't saved this long! :banghead:

Definitely sounds like ball cap, and probably explains why they replaced it, although that is sleazy reporting. A shame the whole thing is too little too late. Like a big strip teaser. LOL. It's 6.75 megs, and I downloaded it at 11:52am yesterday.

I wonder if you can call KSL and ask them for the archived copy, or at least get the transcript from yesterday's lunchtime news via email.

I have sent an e-mail to the reporter, Andrew Adams, asking him about the discrepancy between the two videos.

I have not received a response yet.

SUSAN'S FRIENDS SAY IT COULDN'T HAVE BEEN JOSH BECAUSE HE DOESN'T DRINK
If he was sitting in a bar, does it matter? The alleged sighting did not bring Susan Powell home.

As for the legal implications, ABC 4 turned to Daniel Medwed, a law professor at the University of Utah.

If Josh Powell were to ever find himself in court over his wife's disappearance, Professor Medwed said a prosecutor could use the sighting to establish Powell's state of mind. "But more importantly," Professor Medwed said, "It goes to the purported alibi that Mr. Powell has been advancing for months now -- That he was in the west desert with his kids. This directly contradicts that alibi."

:floorlaugh: Strip club owner calls Josh Powell ODD DUCK! :floorlaugh:
"He just seemed like an odd duck," Mitchell said. "The way he was acting. He was recognized because he was all over the news for a few days. He just didn't seem right. He was talking to himself out loud. It was just odd."

WHAT BEHAVIOR EXACTLY DEFINES AN ODD DUCK?
(Jennifer Graves, Josh's sister, also described Josh as "a bit of an odd duck" on national TV!)
What are your ideas of what an odd duck would do? Quack too much? Fly into windows? Eat poop? What? Lol!

I don't know...I'm having trouble with the meth/strip bar theory...It seems very out of character to me...I'm still listening though...

People use meth in different ways. Not every person is an addict. Some people use it once a year, others several times a year while some just use it on Saturday nights while yet others indulge every day. So, one can't rule out the methamphetamine possibility because this is surely something Josh would have kept a big secret. And, the person who sold it to him, if indeed he does use on occasion, isn't about to call the police and say that they are Josh Powell's drug connection!

As far as the strip club is concerned, for all we know, that could have been the first time he ever went to one!

Could have been...who knows what someone would do in the state of mind he must have been in...Still, I'm thinking that by that time I might be a little more concerned about MY (not Susan's) children and wouldn't leave them alone in the van like that...then again, I might really need a break from the whole saga...

See, I can't put my finger on why I question this - other than intuition. Sometimes I'm good at that, sometimes not.

I'd be very interested to hear if F&F have ever once seen POI talking to himself. It does go with laughing inappropriately, and it's definitely odd. But maybe not too shocking even if not normal for him, given the trauma of that day for him.

Sleep deprivation + manic high + alcohol = psychotic behavior

Chuck and Judy Cox worked to get to know their new son-in-law, who Chuck Cox said has an "interesting" sense of humor that people don't understand.

He grew frustrated with his son-in-law, who would arrive hours late to family dinners or other functions. Joshua Powell's behavior was an odd departure from the way Chuck and Judy Cox raised Susan, they said.

Some of Susan's friends were also put off by Joshua's seemingly anti-social and awkward behavior.

The Coxes silently wondered if Joshua had a possible mental illness, knowing he had a relative that suffered from bipolar disorder. But Joshua's family summed up the man's eccentric behavior as "Josh is just Josh," Chuck Cox said.

If indeed it was Josh Powell, clearly he was NOT in a "normal" state of mind! He had just (allegedly) killed his wife and had spent the entire night in a state of frantic panic while (allegedly) disposing of her body. In my opinion, there is NO way the man slept that night. He was most likely jacked up and nervous and I believe he absolutely was having a psychotic episode. In his confused mind, there was nothing wrong with jetting into a bar for a drink as he concluded some alcohol would help him calm down so he could go home.

Keep in mind, if Josh did indeed go into the bar, this was BEFORE he knew the police were at his house or that they would be waiting for him to return home! He could have very well covered the sedated children with blankets only to go into the bar for a brief amount of time, lost track of time and stayed much longer than he'd planned.

Just because he didn't have alcohol on his breath doesn't mean a thing. He could have covered up the odor with breath freshener or gum!

Do they allow SMOKING in bars in Utah? If so, did Josh Powell smell like cigarette smoke when he returned home?

There's nothing really odd about this behavior; it's just controlling. It's "you can make me go to your family's gathering but I'm going to ruin it for you by showing up late, acting weird, and in general making it so unpleasant that you'll think twice before wanting to go again."

He had a personality disorder, not a mental illness. Unfortunately, there are more like him and the strip club would be completely in character. He had a secret life, he was a big fraud and his wife was the person who knew it best. Ultimately, she stood in his way of having everything he wanted.

Chuck and Judy Cox are in their 60's and I am assuming they know what the symptoms of bipolar disorder are as well as other symptoms of mental illness. I don't think they shared every single reason why they thought Josh was mentally ill with the reporter nor do I think Melinda Rogers, the author of the article, shared every thing they told her.

One cannot conclude someone who shows up late to family gatherings is mentally ill (bipolar) for that fact alone or because they have a strange sense of humor. There obviously were other indicators that weren't mentioned. We have to read behind the lines here.

I think the bi-polar angle is intriguing. It would explain a lot of weird stuff like jumping from one "career" to another, inability to hold a job for a prolonged period of time, buying sprees such as tools, generators, and $80,000 worth of refrigerator magnets. It would explain killing his wife and staying up all night in a manic state, then a dramatic crash in which he could "barely tie his shoes." I am jumping on the bi-polar wagon all the way.

If he was at the strip club and drinking, I could see his behavior being odd if he was not used to drinking.
If he did everything most of us seem to believe he had done in the hours earlier he would still be having reactions to it also.

I do lean towards believing it was him at the SC but would be curious to know if anybody who saw him later that day after he arrived home noticed any smells, not just alcohol but cigarette smoke. Since I don't smoke I really notice the smell on someone, my dh has a good friend who smokes and even tho dh isn't smoking, I can always tell when he's been around him.

Absolutely then throw in a snort or two of methamphetamine (crank) and you have a real nut job on your hands!
