And may I add that most cats are better mothers than Michelle Duggar.

Your duty is not over when the milk dries up. I wish I could flick her forehead. She makes me stabby.

Mz, I love your synopsis! Love love love!

I second the synopsis.
I thought The second oldest boy was also a fireman, (John David).

Josiah was shipped off to the ALERT! academy for a year or two...I strongly suspect he has homosexual tendencies and that's the Quiverful way of de-programming the gay. Shortly thereafter he was announced to be in a courtship with what seemed to be a reasonably intelligent 17 year old - who proved her intelligence by ending the courtship after the molestation was revealed.

Agreed about Josiah -- though I'm unsure if the courtship ended because of the revelation of the molestation or the cancellation of the TV $erie$.

A bit OT. I went over to freejinger and read a few threads. Some of those ladies are hilarious. Good times and dry sense of humor. I like it!

I love the Free JGingjer site. I really miss the fun we had over at TWOP forums. The best time had by all on the web with your clothes on!

Or perhaps their (cough) romantic interests just didn't mesh...

Not sure about that. I did see an episode where JD took his Dad on a ride along (LE car) if that was just a volunteer position would he be allowed alone out with a vehicle? Maybe just a perk for the show?

Since 2013, John David has been a constable in Washington County, Ark., which means he's an elected official with a lot of the same powers as a police officer — but he does it all for free, and he's also a landlord and a pilot.

According to MEchelle:

Our son John David is leasing his home out as rental income and putting the money aside. He's also getting his pilot license right now and he's been a fireman and a police officer, and now he's a constable.

I think this is an awesome gesture, but of course it brought out all the prejudiced wingnuts on social media. When will these anti-LGBT people realize that they have been on the wrong side of history all this time? :slap:

BBM - I think it was the latter. That Marjorie girl really loved the camera and it showed. :moo:

Gateway snack....omg it would be hilarious if it wasn't so ridiculous! The people who believe this crap must have the weakest wills ever. I don't know about other kids, but mine have such strong wills it makes me crazy most of the time. They believe what they believe and nothing will change their minds except experience!!

I know there's a lot of Jill bashing going on and I do understand to some degree.

However, back in one of the early threads, I posted that, if there were ONE Duggar who would break some of the bonds, it would be Jill.

I also believe that Jim Bob didn't know enough about Derick Dillard when he gave his permission for her to be courted.

First of all, he is a college graduate and one of two children in the family. When their son was born, Jill made some comment that their children would go to college if they wanted to.

When they met (through JB), Derick was a missionary in Nepal. JB accompanied Jill there to visit him. When they first met, future husband gave her a massive full, frontal hug. (JB quickly broke that up.) Their common goal was to be missionaries. Most missionaries I know have to raise the money to survive. I've been to many a church service where collections are taken up to support missionaries from their denomination.

Jill wanted to be a midwife. Her sister Jana went to classes with her since she couldn't go alone. Her midwifery goal was shut down before she could become certified (as in being able to earn a living with her training). She wanted to be able to deliver babies as part of her job as a missionary.

Now, Jill (freed to some degree) has finished her studies and is a certified midwife.

http://radaronline.com/celebrity-news/jill-duggar-derick-dillard-announce-baby-news-midwife/

Now, she is attending language school so she can better communicate in her chosen way of life with her husband and son. I'm sure Spanish wasn't one of the classes she took while being home-schooled.

What's so bad about that?

I'm not a very religious person, but I respect other people's beliefs. I do draw the line with cults of any sort. But I'm sue the Dugger patriarch is surely not very happy with his daughter's version of what he has preached to her all her life.

If the Dillards run out of support, they can always come back to the USA and they BOTH can get jobs to earn more to go back.

My information about the Dillards comes from watching the program and following the tabloids.

I grew up in a missionary church. I've done missionary work before myself. (Though not recently, personally.) We also support about a dozen different missionary families in my church. My sister in law is from a missionary family and her parents are still missionaries, as well as both sisters. Basically, I've been surrounded by, or participated in missionary work nearly my whole life. I have NEVER seen or heard of a missionary coming and going like this. Not only is it impractical, it defeats the whole purpose of missionary work. The biggest part, is to become immersed in the community. To mostly leave behind the culture you are used to and embrace a new culture and invest in building relationships and community with people. A great number of missionaries are located in very poor economies. One really difficult part of being a missionary, is that we truthfully don't know what it is like to be extremely poor, hungry, or uneducated, or repressed by society. In that way, we cannot relate to the people we are serving. That is why we leave most of our wordy processions and privileges behind, because they can be a huge distraction and deterrent to really connecting to the economy, culture, and people who are being served. It's almost insulting to go do work in another country under the guise of being a missionary, and then go gallivanting off whenever something cool is happening back home.

Yes, missionaries tend to raise money to do work. But they STAY, they immerse, they work. It's a passion, a calling. They don't go over until they are interrupted by goings on back home. They understand that part of being a missionary is sacrificing the privilege we are used to and the things going on back home. They FULLY invest and immerse themselves into their work.

I have been wondering who sponsors (what organization) their missionary work. The Gothard organization has been heavily involved in overseas mission work, with a good many allegations of sexual harassment of young women, as well as physical and sexual abuse of the children of missionaries being cared for communally while parents worked at placements elsewhere. I realize that Gothard has been deposed, however, the roots of this kind of thing really look to be far more systemic than individual. In short, Jill and hubby may have the best of intentions, but I suspect that they may have been led down the garden path from early on in life and simply lack the skills to be able fairly evaluate what they have gotten into.

If the missionary work he did in the past was "real," he should know this is not how it works. However, I have a feeling they do the faux missionary work that I can't stand. It's where rich Americans go and talk Jesus at people and try to convert them, but offer no actual help. True missionary work offers practical help, such as building housing, creating medical and economic infrastructure, providing education, teaching skills, providing food and water and a path to be self sufficient, etc. I bet they go to these places, do no work, and talk about sin and repentance.

Perhaps, Jill was naive and thought she was going to deliver babies and help people. I don't know. But you can't do that if you aren't there.

Thank you for sharing your insights into missionary work! As an atheist I don't see much point in trying to bring religion into the lives of people outside of one's culture but I do appreciate those who roll up their sleeves and work to improve the quality of life.

And that's what I don't see happening with the Dillards. All I see are tweets, Instagrams and blog posts about the indigenous people coming to ooh and ahh over the "blond, blue-eyed baby" and chronicles of their travels back and forth to the comfort zone. And how the heck do they even have cell or internet?

Looking at Jill's recent tweets we have garbage like this:

Jill (Duggar)Dillard ‏@jillmdillard Sep 19
Headed to @krispykreme for some free donuts on #PirateDay today!

@derick4him #babypirate #piratefamily https://instagram.com/p/70hhLIrs1J/

https://twitter.com/jillmdillard?lang=en

I mean, really - donuts? Is this part of the missionary work that they've been begging funds for? How does that help anyone?

The couple and their son, 5-month-old Israel David, left for their ministry trip on July 5 and have since returned to the U.S. multiple times, leading some to believe they are using donations they've received for something other than mission work.

http://www.etonline.com/news/172411...to_return_to_mission_work_says_family_member/

And the grifting is a family affair:

“Just because you ‘can’ get something for free, doesn’t mean you should!” wrote Susan Panther. “Too bad that wasn’t in the homeschool wisdom booklets. Do you realize that you not only cannot possibly eat that many donuts, but it is greedy to take more than you need?! And perhaps you are taking food out of mouths that truly could use it? I’m beyond disgusted by your selfish, pirating, plundering, pandering ways.”

http://www.rawstory.com/2015/09/duggars-hammered-for-plundering-free-krispy-kreme-donut-give-away/

That describes the Duggars and its extended family to a tee - selfish, plundering, pandering people.

I have family members who are missionaries and they have been away for years at a time, not even coming home for Christmas, family weddings, births, etc.

In fact, my sister's SIL (sounds weird) had one of her children on a mission and the baby was 10 months old before they were able to return home to introduce her to the family.

Also, it takes a lot of funding and grants to be able to serve on these missions. Frequent, frivolous, airfare is a fart in the face to those kind souls who gave money they likely could not spare so that these spoilt children could travel at will and spawn more parasites.
