Josh Duggar Admits Molesting Girls As A Teenager in 2006 *report released 2015* #4 *Dismissed*

If the missionary work he did in the past was "real," he should know this is not how it works. However, I have a feeling they do the faux missionary work that I can't stand. It's where rich Americans go and talk Jesus at people and try to convert them, but offer no actual help. True missionary work offers practical help, such as building housing, creating medical and economic infrastructure, providing education, teaching skills, providing food and water and a path to be self sufficient, etc. I bet they go to these places, do no work, and talk about sin and repentance.

Perhaps, Jill was naive and thought she was going to deliver babies and help people. I don't know. But you can't do that if you aren't there.

Yes, this is the type of missions work I'm most familiar with. I'm not involved in the church any longer, but I knew lots of missionaries growing up and they most definitely did not keep coming back for breaks, especially the first year.

In the LDS church they don't even come back for DEATHS.
I know people who have had siblings and parents die while they were gone.
They did not come back for the funeral even. :twocents:

My mom has a cousin who is a missionary in the middle east. I have never met him in my life and I'm in my low 40s . That's how often he takes' breaks' .

I know there's a lot of Jill bashing going on and I do understand to some degree.

However, back in one of the early threads, I posted that, if there were ONE Duggar who would break some of the bonds, it would be Jill.

I also believe that Jim Bob didn't know enough about Derick Dillard when he gave his permission for her to be courted.

First of all, he is a college graduate and one of two children in the family. When their son was born, Jill made some comment that their children would go to college if they wanted to.

When they met (through JB), Derick was a missionary in Nepal. JB accompanied Jill there to visit him. When they first met, future husband gave her a massive full, frontal hug. (JB quickly broke that up.) Their common goal was to be missionaries. Most missionaries I know have to raise the money to survive. I've been to many a church service where collections are taken up to support missionaries from their denomination.

Jill wanted to be a midwife. Her sister Jana went to classes with her since she couldn't go alone. Her midwifery goal was shut down before she could become certified (as in being able to earn a living with her training). She wanted to be able to deliver babies as part of her job as a missionary.

Now, Jill (freed to some degree) has finished her studies and is a certified midwife.

Now, she is attending language school so she can better communicate in her chosen way of life with her husband and son. I'm sure Spanish wasn't one of the classes she took while being home-schooled.

What's so bad about that?

I'm not a very religious person, but I respect other people's beliefs. I do draw the line with cults of any sort. But I'm sue the Dugger patriarch is surely not very happy with his daughter's version of what he has preached to her all her life.

If the Dillards run out of support, they can always come back to the USA and they BOTH can get jobs to earn more to go back.

My information about the Dillards comes from watching the program and following the tabloids.

True. In their culture, the wife cleaves to the husband and can become more liberal and open-minded if the husband is that way. Her husband indeed believes in higher education at a real university and front hugs! It shocked me that she got certified but I agree that she was able to do so now because of her husband. He's definitely not insanely repressed.

He really did actual, true missionary work. Serious stuff for I think two years in Nepal, hiking all over the country.

But I agree with those who have never heard of missionary work like this that involves jet setting back and forth for month-long vacations after just arriving and things like that.

Perhaps there are things not being said. I know his mother had cancer. Maybe she is still recovering or having issues? Or maybe they are just entitled due to the Duggar's years on the show having everything paid for.

Ugh.

TLC specials to focus on Duggar daughters Jill and Jessa

Production begins soon on the programs, announced Thursday, with an anticipated airdate by year-end for at least the first of them. Two or three are currently planned, the network said.

So far untitled, they will feature Jill Dillard, 24, who, with her husband, Derick, and their infant son are preparing to move to El Salvador for missionary work, and sister Jessa Seewald, 22, who with her husband Ben is expecting their first child on Nov. 1.

"What we will be following in these specials is Jessa preparing for her first child," TLC Executive said, "and we'll be watching Jill preparing to make a major move to Central America with her family, which we know is something our audience will be interested in."

The project, Daniels said, came together quickly "after talking with the girls and understanding that this was something they wanted to do.

I don't have a MSM article to link to, but gossipy sites are posting that Anna left her home and is with her parents, at least for now.

I heard that too, that she took the 2 youngest and left Mackenzie and Michael in Arkansas either at the TTH or the Dillards (since those 2 were photographed with the Dillards on Pirate Day). They believe she was dropped off and Jim Boob went to Epcot (where he was spotted) with some of the boys a few weeks ago, but after Amy's wedding.

How nice of them to have the missionary work so there's something interesting for them to do to show in the special

I wish she would go stay with her brother.

Ok. That must be why they've gone back and forth, what, five times? since they "moved" in July. It would be hard to turn down the money's TLC is offering especially if they want to live as missionaries and have dozens of kids. But I'm also sure TLC demands their appearance for things like weddings or whatever.

Now ow it makes sense.

You took the words right out of my mouth. It is all about the money and this is the back door way of getting the Duggers back on TV.

We know JB and M will wiggle back in. Being at the birth and waving at the airport.

I knew this hiatus from the Duggers would not last long. TLC made a ton of $$ on the Duggers so they want them back as quietly and quickly as possible.

Seriously ! She can go back with him knowing he was screwing a prostitute?

I doubt if it will work. Is her family thinking there will be cA$h somehow with the Duggars rising from the dead?

It would be nice if the specials were basically ambush interviews in which they were asked nothing but questions about Josh, but I strongly suspect his name will never come up, and he'll be treated like Chuck Cunningham, the eldest child on Happy Days, who disappeared and was never mentioned again.
