Religion seems to me to be one of the most effective smokescreens for covering up corruption, immorality, and outright evil, because it sets those who hide under it on a place of moral high ground, so those who question a religious person are made to feel badly about themselves.

I think that the Duggars provide a strong example of this. Sanctimonious grifters who will even cover up the molestation of their own children so as to keep a revenue source flowing. That seems tantamount to pimping one's own children. Damn them.

You said a mouthful and it's so true. I'm sorry to all of the good religious churches and families who are doing it right but there are lots and lots who are standing up there merely to try to purge their own sins. That's my take.

I can only hope SVU doesn't make a has of this story the way they did with their fictional depiction of Casey Anthony. Remember, child missing, mother dumped body... and it turns out baby died of measles. The parents of the kid who passed on the measles were prosecuted for not vaccinating their kid. THOSE parents were acquitted!
