IMO Josh has a much longer history than published. He also learned somehow to use and manipulate technology. Plus, he had access to it.

When he knows that he's "cornered" he will take a plea deal rather than go through an embarrassing trial.

I'm sorry about that.

This case has brought up memories for me of suspect behavior by a older male relative that I didn't recognize until NOW as suspect. And I am having foggy memories of other female relatives knowing it was wrong/weird and trying to shield the girls while also laughing off the behavior. The memories are disturbing, but so is that fact I didn't understand them until NOW, as a middle-aged woman myself.

So how easy is it to accidentally encounter CSAM? Years ago, I inherited a work computer from a fired employee. My first day, I got some very nasty pop-ups that depicted bestiality and sexual violence. No TOR, just Windows. It’s not THAT easy anymore, right?

How often does a sender of purposely include CSAM? Is it like a liquor store clerk throwing in free cocaine to get you hooked? That seems like a big risk for the sender, right?

Back in the mid 90s, when we first got a computer, I remember pop ups could overtake your computer, they just keep coming and coming. One time, I saw an image of a small child with an older man. I know at the time, parental controls or safeguards weren’t a big thing, if they were even a thing, but I know my older brother, who was 16 or 17, had found on the Internet. I know he wasn’t looking at csam, but I think the pop ups just sent out whatever to get you to click. I haven’t had an issue with that kind of aggressive pop ups since the late 90s though.

I bet that he has been really been on a short leash. And he is probably never left alone with his children. However, predators can be stealth. Who knows?

I don’t see how with 7 kids and two adults he would not ever be alone with them. Anna cooks, anna teaches the older kids, anna goes to the restroom, anna showers, and anna sleeps. So unless he has an assigned chaperone 24/7 from the larger family I’m betting he HAS been alone with the kids.

Yes, that’s the kind of pop-ups I meant. And if you clicked “X” to close, it often just led to a cascade of more pop-ups. I don’t think that’s the situation here - sounds like a user has to actively seek it out.

He has to be convicted first. I think his trial is currently scheduled for July, but I suppose that could be delayed.

I agree, with the attorney he has, the Duggars purchased his connections and ability to network a good plea deal. He might be able to wriggle into a very good deal.

It would burn the folks who have been working on this case.

This will be interesting to follow. And see what privilege, money, and connections buys. I believe that JB Duggar has far more financial resources than we know, and probably a lot of political connections.

But helping anyone with CSAM ? That is political dynamite. Josh Duggar really picked the wrong crime.

Just to make sure my assumptions are correct:
After the raid on his car dealership in Nov. 2019 Josh was interviewed by investigators about what they had discovered. The car dealership closed sometime after that.

Surely Mom, Dad and Anna knew about the raid and the interview with investigators. Certainly Josh has been pleading his innocence to everyone since then. So since Nov 2019 they have all been sitting around waiting for the axe to fall?

Most pornographic ads are designed for lowest common denominator engagement, which means there's not often even the kind of kink stuff you might find among consenting adults (no fuzzy handcuffs.) Honestly, I source for my job and I would truly not even know how to find CSEM if I was looking for it. I've never TRIED, because I don't want that anywhere near me, but the internet really is not the Wild West of any more, and is often actively hostile to adult content in general, driving people like this to the darkest corners. So..... yeah, you really have to know what you're looking for if that's the kind of horrible things you're downloading. It absolutely is not the kind of thing you find when trying to find legal of adults.

But Anna and Michelle most likely don’t have a clue that such a thing as what josh was viewing even exists, much less that he would be involved in it. This vile case came up yesterday in conversation and my husband mentioned this exact same verse. In Christian doctrine, there are especially far more dire consequences for preying on the innocent in our society. Too bad it's not like this in our modern day.
