I tend to agree. I wouldn’t doubt if he is already fantasizing about it.

I strongly believe that he has a device hidden somewhere already. There was a flash drive plugged into the computer prior to the Linux partition being created and that flash drive was never recovered by law enforcement. My guess is that he copied the downloaded files to the flash drive (because it's nearly impossible to tell if something has been copied) and the flash drive is hidden somewhere.

But Josh can only enter the sex offender program voluntarily; he has to volunteer in order to be in it. So far, he's been denying there's a problem, or that he's guilty; plus he has key family members who are doing the same thing.

We can think Josh is going to a SOMP facility, because the judge suggested it, but unless Josh volunteers for the rehabilitative program, he can't be in it.

Federal inmates serve 85% of their sentences unless it's a life sentence or less than one year sentence according to previous posts. Good behavior doesn't get them less than 85%. Maybe bad behavior could cause them to loose the 15% advantage. Anyway, it's interesting and I think worth researching further.

I am not certain sex offenders get that 15% lopped off.

• Consistently demonstrate a commitment to treatment.

Josh hasn't demonstrated that any of this is likely.

I am not certain sex offenders get that 15% lopped off.

It's automatic for everyone except lifers and those serving less than a year. I assume it can be taken away if they seriously break too many rules etc....If Josh just serves his time normally he will do 85%.

Josh hasn't demonstrated that any of this is likely.

IMO those are noble goals for a 12-year-old Josh but how effective would they be for 34-year-old Josh? He’s spent two decades avoiding responsibility for his actions, enabled by his parents, his personal religious beliefs and even his own sisters though I feel they were coerced into forgiving/excusing his behavior at the time.

And now his own wife continues to ignore the truth. I wonder what she would say to the child victims of CSAM, especially the ones whose pictures were found on Josh’s computer.

IMO a leopard can’t change its spots so maybe the best that can be hoped for is that once out of prison Josh’s loved ones will be vigilant in protecting any children he has contact with. MOO

I am not so sure, Josh Duggar has spent years in both denial, hiding, blaming others, having his own parents minimize his actions. It will take work for Josh to actually come around, to even acknowledging his behavior and consequences. I believe that he believes he is a victim here. He can't jump through the hoops for treatment while denying his actions. It doesn't really work that way.

And, interestingly enough, the people in the class are the hardest on their peers.

He’s a pro at confessions and apologies. He apologized at church, to the press, and to the Holts. I’m sure there were many, many other times he had to confess/apologize in the context of IBLP. He confessed his past assaults to his wife before they wed. He knows the key phrases. He knows how express remorse in a limited way and shift accountability to some other person, entity, or philosophy.

Nothing in federal sentencing rules excludes sex offenders from being released after serving 85% of their sentence.

Josh Duggar Prison Release Date Revealed: When He's Free

Josh Duggar's prison release date has been set, and he's not going to spend a full 12.5 years behind bars, In Touch can confirm exclusively.

Josh Duggar officially has a date on the calendar to look forward to when his prison sentence will come to an end. Despite being ordered to spend 12.5 years behind bars, his release date is scheduled for August 12, 2032, according to the Bureau of Prisons, meaning he’ll spend a little more than 10 years in prison at FCI Seagoville in Texas.

If so then IMO it could have been worse. While it would be better to see an appropriate number of years to reflect the damage Josh did to the innocent victims in the CSAM he downloaded at least he’ll spend time in prison.

During the trial I feared he would get something lenient like 5 years of probation.

When you say it could have been worse I assume you mean worse as in him getting less time. 85% of his sentence is 10 years and it can't be less than that.

What I have been looking into is halfway houses for Federal inmates and some get that at the last year or so of their sentence. Some sex offenders do not qualify but I don't know if that would include Josh. If he is lucky he will get some time in a half way house towards the end of his sentence. Helps inmates readjust.

10 years is so long that who knows what the rules will be.
