I am impressed with the attorneys here. I don't think that this is wrapped up yet. I see an angle here that Josh was set up, not unlike a "Honey trap" sting. But...even if they can make a case for this, Josh still took the bait. With intent and deliberation.

I don’t remember but it was a couple of things posted by actual lawyers w/ CSAM experience. I said I was guessing. It may have even been regarding a possible plea.
But I don’t think he’ll get the max regardless.

I agree that he probably won't get the max. I can only hope he gets what any other person charged with the same crimes would get, despite any 'connections' he may have.

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing viewing the CSA material is not something Josh would be allowed to view himself. It's his attorneys who will be going through all the evidence. I think this is a smart move by the federal judge. It takes away one justification for an appeal. If everything is airtight like the prosecution claims, there is no harm in turning over everything. JMO

Based on the type of CSAM Josh Duggar was viewing, I would not be comfortable with him being around my children at all.

I wonder how his family is going to deal with this. If he goes to prison, he will have sex offender status, if and when he gets released.

But you're right, the whole family's life is all about having lots of kids, so there will be nieces and nephews by the dozen, and later grandkids.

Some software has been found to potentially operate outside of the law. LE has preferred to back off of prosecutions rather than give up information about their methods.

LE in Duggar’s case used Torrential Downpour in combination with a search warrant for his actual devices. This, I believe, is a “safe” combo; According to this article, it’s developers have been secretive, but no mention of excesses.

This may not be the tree Duggar’s defense lawyer is barking up. I do not yet understand what evidence, possibly inculpatory or exculpatory, could be found by learning more about the other LE departments that happened to use the same software and find Duggar’s IP address at the same time.

I don't know. This is beyond my realm. But, as I said previously, these attorneys are not leaving anything out. If Josh Duggar is convicted, it definitely can't be over turned or appealed based on "poor defense" attorneys.

3 different police departments downloaded child pornography files from Josh Duggar's IP address - and his defense team wants to know what they found

In an effort to dig up evidence that could absolve Josh Duggar, the former TLC star's defense team is seeking more information from the multiple police departments that prosecutors say downloaded child sexual abuse files from his IP address.

In a partial victory on Thursday, a federal judge granted the Duggar team's request. Judge Timothy Brooks ruled that prosecutors could likely work with federal agents to obtain the information Duggar's team wanted from the Jonesboro and Ozark police departments in Arkansas.

"The defense has persuaded the Court that the auto-generated logs emailed to the three officers could disclose information to the defense that may be either exculpatory or inculpatory," Brooks ruled. He added that if no such logs exist, prosecutors should inform Duggar's team.

Josh’s legal team filed a Motion to Compel requesting the government provide them with information related to “an undated screen shot” and “all law enforcement reports and related discovery prepared by the Little Rock” in July.

Every single time I read another article about Josh Duggar and his addiction to CSAM, I am further repulsed by him. Each article describes more of what LEO found on his computer.

It is absolutely horrific and the fact that his legal team, paid by Jim Bob's real estate money and TLC fans, is looking for a technicality to throw the case out, like whether it was state/federal LE involved - well, the very nature of the material JD consumed must remain highlighted. He is one of the end users that CSAM producers abuse and murder children/infants for. These are atrocities that are committed for his personal pleasure and there are millions more CSAM consumers out there in the world (Hunting Warhead podcast series). JD's sentencing must send a message to them.

Just like a tree won't grow in Antarctica, Josh's high priced attorneys won't be able to hood wink the Feds or the Judge on some technicality.

The Judge's response for the defense's request for more information makes me think the Judge is just as repulsed by Josh's charges as the rest of us are.
