I'm glad he was found guilty, especially after reading about the vile things he was caught with.

I also feel really terrible for his kids.

All it said was 4 hours total. Inmates can include their children on the list, but the list is subject to approval. No contact with a victim or anyone he was grooming.
Apart from Josh being a danger to the kids, those units are special units for sex offenders. There would be convicted sex offenders (plural) in that space.

Another thing I thought interesting…. There is a preference for putting offenders within 500 miles of home. I’m not sure any of the prisons meets that guideline, depending on what level Josh is.
Any ideas on level? Low or moderate maybe? Could he be sent to a “camp” whatever that is?

Gotcha, thanks!

IDK if he'll stay in Arkansas, but here's a list of prisons in Arkansas: https://prisonerresource.com/federal-bureau-prisons/arkansas/

There is a "camp" on the list called Forrest City Prison Camp in Forrest City, that does not house sex offenders. This article says no prison camps house sex offenders. So that's good.

It strikes me as more than a little perverted that Josh had all these people supporting him. Suspending disbelief, ignoring really compelling evidence, invalidating the earlier victims, and perhaps not protecting others rather than face a rather unpalatable truth. Shame on them.

It would be nice but I doubt JB would ever allow it.

Regardless individual opinions regarding Anna, there’s a lesson here for all of the women who are in the same situation. While they’re busy churning out children, they should considering what they would do if their husband was incarcerated or otherwise unable to support all those children.

Right? LOL, you can buy life and disability insurance for the person whose income supports dependents. But maybe we also need incarceration insurance.

Does Josh have a high school diploma? Associates degree? Guess he’s gonna have to get crackin’.

He passed the GED when he was 16. No education beyond that.

He better hope his father lives to be 100 and continues to support him. GED and RSO are possibly the worst combination of letters when it comes to ability to support a wife and 7 children. jmo

I think that it will be very interesting to see Josh Duggar and his family at the sentencing hearing. Compare pictures, side by side. I doubt Josh Duggar will be grinning at that hearing. The entire reality of his situation will have settled in by then.

I have a feeling further education will be required. He’s not gonna like his new manufacturing job, either.
This will be the first time in his life where he’s not special. He may be building gizmos with a hundred other guys, just one of a hundred.

I’m not so sure. I think there are federal prison specialist attorneys that work on your behalf to get a good placement. I bet the Duggars hire one and will still be all grins thinking it will be a slap on the wrist….
We shall see…

I realize it's a highly unpopular opinion here but, the family and friends supporting JD are not on trial, nor have they ever been charged with anything or named as suspects in any criminal activity. Despite what some may think about their religious views, their only "crime" was to believe and support their family member. I suspect, after sitting through the evidence presented in court, some of them may be reconsidering their positions of support.

They don't deserve to be shamed, they deserve some grace and compassion, just like any other extended family of a convicted pervert.

I appreciate what you are saying, but it’s not accurate to state that the only “crime” is supporting their son. The mother failed to report that 4 of her students were sexually assaulted. (Statute long gone on that). The parents gave the victims a bedroom lock, extra diaper duty, and lessons in modesty in response to them being molested. This is not an attack on anyone’s religion. JMO.

Thanks so much for saying this. Several in that family are outright victims, too. Others are minors. I feel so badly for so many of them.

Sometimes adults might look like they're making bad decisions, causing approbation. But in my experience, some adults don't have the information needed to make decisions that the majority would describe as "wise". In my experience, this applies especially to women in certain circumstances. They can seriously, really, absolutely, categorically not know how to evaluate situations because they simply don't have information or aren't familiar with any way to frame it. In my experience, this would especially be true in the arena of sexuality.

I'm not saying my experiential thoughts apply to any person in particular in this case. I'm saying they should be afforded scope for the possibility that they had no basis for making the decisions we might have wished they made.

If Josh punched a sibling, I’m sure he’d be disciplined. If he stole from his sibling’s piggy bank or purposely broke a prized toy, he’d be punished.

Digitally rape a 5 year old? Molest sleeping siblings? Ah, that’s different - and blame gets shared among Josh for being tempted and his victims for tempting. That’s sick. JMO.

Not all of the prisons take sex offenders, evidently. They are a special population.
I thought he’d be going to a federal prison, not state prison.

I wonder if that would mean adult children or any of his children .

I suppose when any of his children start to turn 18, it may be their decision whether or not they visit him.

For that reason, although I know there are federal guidelines for how long he should be imprisoned, I personally hope he gets 18 years, minimum. That way all seven of his children, including the newborn, will at least no longer be minors by the time he struts back out into the free world.

Jmo.

My opinion, is that the classes and treatment plans for adult criminal offenders are useless. Maybe 1 out of 100 actually works the program and wants to change. (Yes, I am not "verified", but I used to teach court ordered classes and classes in prison so that is my "unverified" opinion) FWIW.
I agree and it’s especially true of sexual offenders. In Duggar’s case, he’ll be returning to the same enabling environment that allowed his behavior so there’s little hope of reform.

Josh Duggar was smiling because he knows he will be released from jail in 4 months.
Please someone correct me if I’m wrong - in 4 months Josh faces up to 20 years “or” $250,000 in fines for each count. Prosecutors said he would only be sentenced on the one count of receipt. I don’t think $250,000 will be a problem for Jim Bob to come up with in 4 months.
