Court documents detail how Josh Duggar molestation allegations first came to light

A federal judge gave a detailed history of Josh Duggar's alleged molestation of his sisters this week, recounting how Duggar's conduct was largely kept as a family secret until it inadvertently slipped out through the daughter of a family friend years later.

Judge Timothy Brooks, who also oversaw Duggar's child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 trial last year, described the details in a ruling on Wednesday dismissing a lawsuit from four of Duggar's sisters. The sisters had sued a number of Arkansas officials in 2017, arguing that police improperly released documents from the molestation investigation and violated their privacy.

Though most of the facts contained in Brooks' ruling were already known to the public through media reports and police documents, Brooks' ruling summarized the disturbing, yearslong series of events in gripping detail.

Gripping detail? What a disturbing way to describe this type of a report.

Here's the sentence of a sex offender sentenced last week in Vermont. It may give "ballpark" numbers on the Josh Duggar case. Note the previous offense as comparator. Josh Duggar was also distributing, correct, because of his PC being a "virtual server"? I realize he wasn't charged or convicted of that, but maybe that plays into the sentence?
Also note: the 15 (!!!)n years supervision after the prison sentence is complete.
Was Josh Duggar also caught by "Project Safe Childhood"? Department of Homeland Security....

How can I both 'like' this and dislike this...lol.

I hate that they're dragging this process on. He was found guilty, clear as day. To delay this any longer is a slap in the face for all of his victims, and for what? I hope the judge has no patience for this circus act and charges him accordingly. MOO.

As long as his pervy self is locked up in the interim- take all the time you like- spend all the Duggar money you like while you're waiting!

Just keep him in a cage. He can delay his sentence forever. He ain't going to get out.

On that same date, the government submitted a final presentence investigation report as well as a sentencing recommendation. Those two documents were sealed by the court and no details about their contents are available. The investigation report contained two addenda, one of which was an impact statement from an unknown victim.
(BBM) To me this is significant. I hope it is searing indictment of his character, pouring light on what Josh and his parents tried so hard to hide - he's an unremorseful monster.

Are there rules about who can file a victim impact statement?

There were five molestation victims, I believe. Four sisters and one unrelated minor female. Would they be the only ones permitted to make a victim impact statement? Could a victim’s spouse or someone like Mrs. Holt make one? Is it possible that the identities of the victims in the photos are known and they made a statement? (The victims in the CSAM were in the 5-10yr old range, IIRC, and could be adults now).

I believe anyone affected by the crime can provide a victim impact statement in a federal case. Since this one was submitted as part of the government's investigation report, my guess is this particular statement was provided by a victim to either the US Attorney's office or US probation office (which files the report referenced above) and they decided to include it. For those not wanting to read all the why, prosecution report is requesting a 20 year sentence.
It seems appropriate. The defense will ask for much less, of course. Personally, I don’t think he will get 20 years. MOO of course.
