"Snip" TJ Hart http://www.thesky973.com/pages/6301020.php

Rumors have been swirling all week that hearing was held early this week regarding the custody status of Ronald Cummings Jr., the young brother of missing Haleigh Cummings. He is the son of Ronald Cummings Sr, who is now in jail on drug trafficking charges, and Crystal Sheffield of Baker County.

According to the rumors, Crystal Sheffield allegedly failed a drug test yet the young boy remains with her in her Baker County home.

Since WSKY has had no luck in locating the records of this DCF hearing, I contacted Crystal's mother Marie Griffis for confirmation.

I told Marie that there is talk that Butterbean remains at home, but that Crystal may have failed a drug test due to the ingestion of a Loritab pill.

Marie Griffis responded:

"I will say yes that is true, all the other stuff on the internet came from the ones scorned (that is all I will say about them). Please let everyone know that Crystal is doing what DCF wants her too, Crystal has needed these therapies that they are offering she has dealt with a lot losing a child a second time and maybe this time peemanently and on top of that, everyone in the home will receive some type of therapy. Chad's children have been affected by HaLeigh's disappearance, they are all like brothers and sisters. Update on Butterbean he is doing great he is very happy and loving being with his Mommy he gets very upset when she has to be away from him from 3hrs to go to her classes but he understands why. We have explained everything to him that we feel he understands, he just simply wants to be with his Mommy."

Thanks, Marie

VIGIL REMINDER

A reminder that vigil for missing Haleigh Cummings is taking place today, Saturday, February 6, 2010 set for 5:30 p.m. at Celebration Park, in Glen St. Mary.

Wasn't this a persciption given to Crystal that she took? AH leaves out many details for drama.

I still say he's better of with Crystal. With all the crap she's had to deal with I can understand her taking a script pill or two....or three.

I must say the title line of this article seems highly unfair. If they are prescribed medication, she shouldn't have been regarded as having "failed" a drug test. If the drug that has been prescribed is the only one in her system, it should be regarded as "passed". WTH?

At the company where I work, drug testing is mandatory before we bring in a new hire. If they are already on prescribed meds, it is disclosed beforehand and the only way they would fail is if there is another chemical in their system that is not in their prescribed meds. I don't get that report.......at all.

I would think that anything detected in the test that was prescribed to Crystal would not come back as a "failed" drug test. This is sad because it was first reported she passed this test. I was really hoping she had cleaned up her problem with drugs. Now that she's getting therapy, maybe she will. I certainly hope so.

Not sure what Art is reporting. I to thought this may of been a prescription, wish we knew more. Marie said Jr. is doing OK, and I pray that is the case. I will wait for the DCF reports before I comment any further. Not sure what to think right now...just pray that Jr. is OK and Haleigh is found.

If the only drug in her system was prescribed, as far as I concerned, she has cleaned up her problem. I don't understand your statement.

Jeez give me a break! If Crystal is taking precribed medication by her doctor what is the problem. Crystal is not a drug dealing/user monster like RC or MC.

I have not read anything anywhere except what TJ reported this morning. I am not sure if he did or did not get into the pills, just quoting what TJ. wrote. I to wish there was more information regarding the facts. If she failed for taking prescriptions, then I don't see that as a fail. . I hope TJ updates the article and makes it a bit clearer. I would think that if CS had anything in her system that was not a prescription JR. would have been removed from her care.
I want to rename the thread because it is confusing...any suggestions would be greatly appreciate.:blowkiss:

I took that to mean...JR was not removed by CPS due to one ingested lortab byy Crystal and failingg the test. I want to know if it was RX or not. I consider it not failed if RX and dirty pool on behalf of reporting if so.

It don't say Crystal failed! It something that came from the Internet. If she failed DCF would of removed Jr!!!!

You can fail a drug test with a prescribed med is one of the terms of your agreement (that you are being tested under to begin with) is that you will not be taking any narcotics.

If a doctor then prescribes pain meds to you for a legit reason, or you take a pill from a pre-exisiting prescription you are still in violation of the terms of your agreement.

Or the other way to look at is she "failed" the test in black and white terms of the meds being present, but she is not being penalized by losing her kids because it was prescribed and that prescription has been verified.

You are correct, it was CS that is mentioned to have taken the pill. The article is unclear and I have renamed the thread. My question still remains, why would they fail CS if she is on prescription medication? That would seem unfair, at least to me. I to would like to read for myself the DCF reports if and when released.

So that we don't get off track, here is what was said about the Loritab.

Thank you!
:blowkiss: This explains it better. I was soooo confused at first. I had to go back and re-read the article over and over. The failed part threw me for a loop. Now it makes sense and I guess all we can do is wait for the actual reports. It would be nice to keep the facts straight. As Marie said in her response to TJ, there is a lot of rumors on the net. At least here at WS that is not allowed..Thank you again for helping clarify what the article may mean.

It don't help that TJ Hart and Art Harris can't just type like the rest of us and stop mixing words to mess us up!!!:banghead::furious:

JMO... I feel this is journalism at it's worst. First of all, CS and family should be LEFT alone unless something very harmful is committed and the NEED to know anything about them at this time is unwarranted.

No matter what happened in the past....they need to build on the future and these reporters have enought things to write stories about with these criminal characters. If this family was in immenent despair that would be a different story. This side of the family is not perfect either...if something happened that would cause him to be removed ASAP.....that would be a different story. Leave them alone at this time.

They are being scrutinuzed enough as it is.....a painful event celebration in the works.... JR. more than likely misses the rest of his family...just as much as he missed his mom when things were the other way around.

This child is going to have a hard enough time with a so called normal life... without his sister.

This needed more then a Thanks:clap::clap:

TJ Hart really dramatized this article especially when he started off with what he claims Marie stated: "I will say this is true" ...

The content of what is being reported in the article just doesn't seem to fit the "rumor" of a Loritab.

To those who somehow think that Crystal is on prescription medication (ie prescribed to her) that is not the case. If it was, there would not have been an issue.

In the comments section of the article, TJ says that he understands that this is not something that was prescribed for Crystal.

As I said, if something is prescribed, it's not a fail. Since a "failed" drug test is being reported, then it must not have been prescribed. We either have bad reporting or misinformation.

I am agreeing with you, a test should NOT be reported as a fail if the drugs were prescribed to her. Why is it being reported as a fail?

TJ is reporting on a rumor and has no facts or documents to back up his claim. One rumor is that she took illegal/nonprescribed meds and the other rumor is that she had a prescription. One blog entry is more interesting than the other. But both are totally unsubstantiated at this point.

And a prescribed med equalling "not being an issue" would be supported by the fact that they are not taking the kids out of the house. Not sure what says a positive opiate test was not an issue than that.

It is not like this is a low profile case. I believe all of the other players in this case involved in non-prescribed opiates are in jail at the moment.
