ITA. If he'd at least pleaded guilty to culpable homicide (oh, and the firearms offences) I might have had some sympathy for him.
But this determination to get off with everything is not the mark of an honourable person. :shakehead:
I agree 100%!

According to this testimony Reeva was not the love of his life:

Nel: It’s because it never happened. Why are you getting emotional now?
OP: Because this is the night I lost the person that I cared about. I don’t know how people don’t understand that.

Court adjourns for a crybaby break.

Lost? Like Reeva died from a natural death or got lost at the mall or something. Absurd choice of words even on the witness stand. He's definitely distancing himself from her by not using her name. Who really knows who that person he meant, could be talking about himself for all we know.

It is worth reading if you are interested in the human psyche. It is a first hand account of a very bizarre thought process of viewing the world IMO.

One of the first things to strike me was his concept of self.

Once I've read it, we can discuss. Time is certainly on our hands with this trial :-P

We will have to agree to disagree I have worked with folks who have been traumatized and I would never be so bold as to assert what a response to such an event as Oscar has described would be. It in MO is irresponsible to do so.

I understand your philosophy of empathy after having worked with those that have been traumatized (as I have done as well).

But as a path to a more comprehensible humanistic knowledge, have your ever worked with those who do the traumatizing?

Explore that realm.....very interesting!

This has spun into something way off base. The discussion is not regarding his emotions throughout a timeline. The discussion is OP's explanation for not screaming at the moment he ripped off the door panel and saw he riddled his girlfriend's body with bullets powerful enough to stop an elephant.

Nel: What was the purpose of screaming while you were breaking the door down?

OP: I was in a panic.

Nel: But when you found Reeva, you didn't scream then.

OP: I didn't know what the purpose of screaming would be then. I was overcome with sadness.

That's it. That statement. That emotion, at that moment.

The timeline was just a further explanation to Carmelita as to how i felt OP mixed the timeline of emotions.

I'm glad , i really am , you provided the testimony .

bbm1 - panic classifies as fear
bbm2 - the action of carrying Reeva down the stairs , imo , is not coherent with being overcome by sadness. That's still panic (fear) and eventually as he goes down a high degree of sadness starts sinking in , it eventually turns into desperation (sadness).
I could go on if you need me to until we get to where , i believe, he feels being "overcome by sadness"

All i was trying to say ,all along, is that OP very probably felt being "overcome by sadness" but not at the time that it testified it to be.

Lol can we seriously use Oscars book as any sort of guide?, lets be honest it was never going to be a warts and all account of his life was it?, I'm sure the are many interesting incidents that were left out to protect his "brand" and not damage the golden boy reputation.
When it comes to his true character his book is probably about as reliable as the well known <modsnip>

The time line in an extreme situation is often fluid for those involved in the situation. It would be unusual for a person to have things down minute by minute. The forensic evidence in this case does not negate Oscar’s version of the general time line of events.

Oscar's entire testimony is "fluid." With all of the lies, some that even his supporters acknowledge, how do you know what is a lie and what is the truth?

In my personal experience, once i know that a person has lied to me, everything they say from then on is suspect.

I think we are seriously expected to do so by a very small contingent... why anyone would expect to be guided by Gianni Merlo , whoever or whatever he is, is so off the wall, words fail me.

My post had nothing to do with Oscar's lack of responsibility it had to do with anyone claiming that they knew how a person should respond and act in a situation of extreme emotions.

Carmelita, all Oscar has to do is tell the truth. It's really not that hard.

it would probably go a long way towards curing his GAD, too.. as a by product..

Lying is so nervewracking..

For some it is, especially when the truth will get that person 25 to life.

MOO

Hi Prime :seeya:

It would be , at this stage , if some/most of what he's declared so far is incorrect/misleading the court ;)

I suspect that OP has lied, realised that caused new problems, created new lies and so on to the extent where he probably no longer knows for sure which bits are true and which bits are made up.

MOO

his lies will probably get him 30 to life..

But if he did. he would be serving that time cured of his GAD. !!

:drumroll:..

Theres a very telling part of Oscars original affidavit, the part where he breaks the door down and finds Reeva slumped over but alive, the only way this is possible is if the gunshots were the 2nd set of sounds, the DT know this hence the change to Reeva was not breathing.

And yet that gets him into trouble because he picked her up to take her to the hospital, if she was dead why the hurry to get her out of the room? :banghead:

Pfft. Good luck striking up a conversation on any of the evidence with anyone that is holding out hope that his story is to be believed by the Court. Not going to happen. But I can try to argue his case with you, for a minute or two anyway, as long as we stick to individual items, you are not allowed to group things like a big picture, OK? LOL! OP found Reeva still breathing and that is common cause, neither side has argued that she was not. How was that? :floorlaugh:

I dont think people realise how damning it was for both Saayman and Botha to agree that Reeva only took a few breaths after being shot in the head, they might as well of said that the 2nd sounds were the gunshots.
