But it would be really unusual to revoke an accused's bail in the middle of trial when he's not violating his bail conditions.

I think nearly all of his bail conditions were rescinded fairly soon after the bail hearing. I imagine he is not allowed to carry a gun but honestly cannot remember how many other bail conditions remain. Can you?

I've been following it, mainly because I am always interested when Mark Tedeschi, QC, is the prosecutor.. a weird and inexplicable event, this terrible crime.

He's an excellent prosecutor. I wish we had live trials in Oz occasionally. I don't believe it will ever happen though.
