Gitana and Steely;
You tug at my heart strings. My family taught values, virtues, consequences. While there were issues and hell to be paid, we learned.
It seems to me that the parents that allow childhood celebrity are in it for the parents own gain. They want the money and the 15 minutes on t.v. and magazines.
No care for the drug use exposed too young, the sexual abuse exposed too young, the general emotional abuse exposed too young. Just the chance to get at that shiny star, the money, and the rolling tide. The child is forgotten, yet praised to continue the tide. Keep encouraging, don't put the child down, party with the child, and the money, clothes, car, t.v. shows keep pouring in. Where is the child and the child's needs, the child's protectors, the child's psychology?
Can the child be happy making a clothespin angel for the Christmas tree? To be hung on the tree every year. Made of a clothespin, cottonball, marker, and glue?
I know that children are exposed to a lot anyway, but child celebs hurt in silence. Like a lot that are not celebs, like a lot from bad homes.
The point being: Can we demand NO MORE CHILD CELEBS?!
Will it help, or will it hurt? Their families do not seem to get it, not unlike many others, but would it spare them being exposed too young to drugs, alcohol, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and manipulation, entitlement?
I don't know the answer. I would like to see Celebs start working on positive public answers, not just for their own, but for the others that will not have the money and fame, just the life that brings us here to discuss what America said is the dream, yet it is always Ghetto life for these children celebs when you break it down psychologically.
