I can't see Stacy leaving her kids behind with this violent maniac just to get LE to look at him closer. If she didn't have kids, and if KS hadn't died suspiciously...I might be on the fence about his guilt.

If Drew had bugged the house of wife #2 and wife "4, then it is very pooosible he bugged the house of wife #3 (Kitty). I have thought in the past that maybe he took out any devices that would have recorded conversations in the house of wife #3 before he had her discovered by his friend Steve. Then what to do with those audio tapes? You don't want anyone else to listen to them, you can't throw them out because someone may find them...so you lock them in your safe with other incriminating evidence from other wives. Surely he had to remove tapes from the house of wife #2 when he was beating her, because someone would recoginise the voices. He probably has quite a stash of old tapes with voices on of people he has verbally and physically hurt.

And if we're lucky, there's audio of him threatening or being nasty on those tapes. I remember a similar case from a very long time ago where the husband taped his wife's calls, but in the end the tapes implicated him somehow.

--->>>You can run them through a magnetized tape eraser thing and it erases everything. I used to do taped dictation for a huge company, and when I had typed the entire thing, I just slid the tape through this metal magnetized thing and everything was automatically erased.

Police department might have such a device.

I had forgotten about that little contraption, Camper. I think I have one around here somewhere from days past. He could have burned them too. Or ripped them apart and tossed them on the highway!

I wouldn't put it past him though to have a stash of these though. He seems to think he was invincible and probably never thought he'd be a part of an investigation like this!

The thing is now that the death looks like murder, I hope LE does have some evidence that will connect the dots to lead to Drew being the cause of her murder. I wonder if they took any physical evidence form the home at that time other then Kitty herself?

I read where after she was taken from the home Steve said he remembered that Drew cleaned up the bathroom and scrubbed the tub..if that is true that doesn't sound good and it sounds like LE was paying more attention to Drew being a fellow officer then to the crime scene itself.

Maybe Stacey secretly taped Drew talking about Kathleen's death or threatening Stacey. If I were her and I meant to divorce Drew I would want to have some evidence to use to defend myself against what certainly would have been a very ugly battle for custody of the kids and her share of the couple's assetts. I wonder if she has ever consulted a lawyer outside of Drew's circle of influence? Surely someone would have come forward by now. We don't know that they haven't.

I think Drew would have probably been wary of being taped just like he was wary of being cheated on. He was afraid the tables would be turned on him, so I'm sure he would check for bugs before the police searched his house, and discovering something like that could have the catalyst that drove him to just kill her.

Maybe the cops found something he missed.

the more i read about Kathleen, the sadder i get...poor thing:(

i didn't get bad vibes from the guy Steve though....i can see where he wouldn't want his wife to run into the home by herself...here he sees his cop neighbor friend holding down his ex, or soon to be ex wife in the yard....he probably figures, hey, the guy's a cop & he's got her restrained now, & LE is on the way.....i agree though, i would want to get involved & try to help her, but in a lot of cases it would be the wrong thing to do...you could get your own self killed, but he DID watch & wait for LE to come, from what i understand.....domestic violence is probably the worst type of calls for LE to get...most dangerous that is.....

cops are put on a 'pedestal' (sp) so to speak, so often, that people don't want to think that some of them are 'bad'.....Steve probably had no reason to think, since he was watching this scene, that DP was going to kill Kathleen right there in the yard in front of him......

i find it odd though that after 39 (or 29?) yrs on the force, DP was only a Sgt.....seems he would have climbed the ranks a bit more, with that many yrs under his belt....

I don't see it either, Taximom, not leaving the children behind especially after her own mother disappeared. I too would give him the benefit of the doubt if it weren't for Kathleen's death (now called a homicide) and his 2nd wife's statements about him "killing her and making it look like an accident".

This must be the defense mantra now because DP's friend Steve almost said the same thing on Greta's show when asked what he thought. Baden had just appeared breathlessly with his "homicide" statement.

While I agree with Baden, I wish he hadn't been stating this was a homicide before the 2nd autopsy was performed. I realize he could see that from the older reports, but it gives the defense the "right" to say this now. (even though they are wrong!) IMO

I almost wish it had been someone other than Dr. Baden. He lost a lot of credibility during the Spector trial, at least in the opinion of us who believe Spector is guilty.

Exactly, this lawyer is now grabbing at straws to try to save his client. I think that he knows by now that Drew's goose is cooked and the only question is where is Stacey's body?
Dr Baden read the first autopsy and knew something was not right. Also if the county did not have to have a jury decide the decision would have rested on the professionals involved. They had an opinion then and still do that from the autopsy it was clear this was not an accident.

Dr. Baden is on Geraldo's show now. He is going over all the details of the autopsy report, and the coroner's inquest.

The one thing about Dr Baden that drives me nuts are his confusing statements when he's explaining autopsy findings. He pretty much states he came to the homicide conclusion based on the history of DV and family statements. Not the bruises, not the lividity, etc. A defense attorney is going to have fun with this one. Every show or article I read he says something different.

Drew Peterson Attorney: This Is Not Entertainment

"The results of Dr. Baden's autopsy on Ms. Savio do not surprise us, not because we believe they are accurate, but only because Dr. Baden had indicated to Ms. Susteren a week before he had performed the autopsy that he believed Kathleen's death was not an accident," Brodsky said in a news release. "While Dr. Baden is a renowned pathologist, we do not know the motivation for donating his services, and the nature of his arrangement with the Fox Entertainment Group. All we wish to say is that Kathleen's death should not be a source of entertainment."

Hmmm, no mention of the fact that Kathleen Savio has been dead for years. No mention of the fact that there are now questions regarding a coverup or incompetent investigation at the time of her death. No mention that it is the national media attention on his missing wife that caused Kathleen Savio's case to be reopened. Nope, his conclusion is that it is only being looked at for "entertainment"

That's what I heard too! I didn't hear what he did, but the Savio family probably didn't either.

It'll all work out in the end, but this kind of stuff doesn't help.
