Gun owners don’t get any more responsible than law enforcement officers, right? After all, they are experts, having received training in how to handle weapons — or so logic would tell us.

Then how is it that a Kentucky sheriff’s deputy managed to accidentally shoot his own mother? In church. At a wedding.

Wow -- not meaning to be insulting here, but it sure shows how memory can distort things. There was no 'crazed Islamist' -- the shooter was Christian. This didn't happen last year, but in 2007. And there was no 'off-duty sheriff's deputy' -- instead, it was an 'on-duty security guard'. So, not really too much in common with the story that this thread discusses.
