The Victoria's Victories FB and their go fund me account both went *poof*
Shame on ANYONE for using a child in this way!It makes me sick.
Family attorney disputes KFC findings (update)
"It is unfortunate that Victoria and her family are being vilified on what appears to be the result of an inconclusive investigation conducted by KFC and/or its agents that implies Victoria's story is a "hoax," said William Kellums of Jackson, the attorney for the family of Victoria Wilcher. "It is deeply disappointing that other parties have taken opportunity to attack Victoria through social and news media outlets.
Agreed! The Victoria's Victories FB and their go fund me account both went *poof*
Shame on ANYONE for using a child in this way!It makes me sick.
But on Monday, the Laurel Leader-Call reported surveillance videos show no one matching Wilchers description was in the store at the time her grandmother claimed.
The newspapers source also alleged no orders matching what Mullins claimed to have purchased were recorded on the cash registers.
Late Monday night, the family posted a message on the Victorias Victories Facebook page denying the accusation.
I promise its not a hoax, I never thought any of this would blow up the way it has. The article circling the web calling this a hoax is untrue, reads the post. The article itself say the investigation is not complete. It is not over until KFC releases a statement.
KFC said last week it hired a third-party consultant to conduct an independent investigation to help us resolve the matter.

From your link, redheadedgal......thanks for posting it!:
"Family members and their attorney never said the Leader-Call story that called their claims a hoax was wrong, but instead said the focus should be on helping Victoria."
" KFC officials pledged to donate $30,000 to the family when they learned their claim about what happened in Jackson last month. They said the family could keep the money regardless of what their investigation turned up. But their investigation, after viewing hours of surveillance video from multiple KFC locations, found no evidence that showed Victoria and her grandmother, Kelly Mullins, were asked to leave one of their restaurants."
I give KFC a lot of credit for how they've handled this mess.
I don't. I think the way they handled it is super foolish and just promotes this type of scam. If they wanted to donate money to the child, they should have completed their investigation first, showed that it was a hoax, and pressed charges against the grandmother while then offering to donate money in some organized and protected way strictly for the medical expenses she incurred MAYBE.
Paying $30k up front with zero proof of an obviously bogus story is major foolishness to my mind.
eta: and the stated reason should have been because they felt charitable toward the girl for having such low life family members who are responsible for her injuries in the first place and don't have enough character not to scam on it. The charitable giving is legitimate to that extent, imo.

I don't believe this incident happened.
(I mean I really do not think this happened.)
Thanks for the link:
I find it very impressive that KFC is still contributing towards the little girl's medical treatment.
With all of the other funds that have been raised -- zowie -- hope those folks can get their money back.
How about charges of mischief for gramma /?
:banghead::tantrum::jail:
real family values...................
grandpa has dogs that almost kill her
and her grandma lies and uses her for money.
I wish there was a way to force the family to put the $$ they raised into a trust for this poor little girl. She's going to need all of the help she can get.

Apparently there is a reason Grannie has custody... and now she messed up -- she might love Victoria & treat her well outside of the KFC debacle, who knows? However, in the best interests of Victoria, she definitely needs her own attorney, a trust fund, and a trustee outside of THIS family to make the financial decisions & dole out the cash.
