Deb. I REALLY wanted to know about that poor kitty. I guess it must have died with no mama.

I think sharper could be right and the mother cat ate it. That does happen sometimes when kittens are born with something wrong. Sad...

I think the Mum cat ate it also. It is common in nature for this to happen.Poor thing. There was a child born in the Middle east a few years ago. It was the same thing , an undeveloped twin. In the documentary they removed the second head. Which was caused by genetic mutation. It was very odd as the head moved but was sucking strengh from the developed child. It was very difficult surgery as they shared a brain. It was not a Siamese type situation , this was very different to that. In the documentary the doctors kept referring to the 2nd head as a "parasite'. Amazing and sad Stuff. I think the show was called "amazing Medical Stories".

Sadly, that little girl has since died from a brain infection.

Incredible story. I just emailed the news station that aired the original story asking for an update......was the kitty stolen, or eaten, very sad. We'll see if they respond.

I know... I wish the little kitty had made it... but it really sounds like Mom ate it... :(

has anyone heard of brittany and abby? They are conjoined twins just like the kittens were. They are thriving kids. I learned about them on Oprah.

I hope you mentioned "Eaten by the mother" and not just "eaten." Some editor might be horrified at the thought you'd think someone ate it atop their cheerios.

Yes, Glitch I did. :) Good point though! I went back and double checked just to be sure I was clear. Thanks.

Shucks. I was kind of looking forward to the response. ;-)

Why is it though that maybe the mother ate the kitten? If this did happen, it would have been immediately after birth - and not later, after the kitten had already nursed.

Wenchie, not necessarily...

I have seen it happen before. Sometimes the mother is too busy to do it right away. Another option, for me at least, is that the kitten died and the mother hid it. I have seen this many as well. My cat was "lost for almost a year before we found her. when cat's die they will hide to die.
