the excerpt below is from and article on the grand jury indictment of the McCormick family for the death of adopted daughter Arabella. It made me wonder, what is it with these adoptive parents training cameras onto kids even as they sleep and punishing them if they move even the slightest bit while doing so? I don't understand the payoff the abusers get from it? Is it about extreme control? I decide when you eat, breath, move even?

Now 10, the surviving sister told the grand jury she and Bella were not allowed to play or even talk to each other in the room but were forced to lie on their beds, hands at their sides, with cameras trained on them and alarms on their beds. They were not allowed to move. She said every movement — even while sleeping — was punished.

“I couldn’t sleep because I was too afraid,” the girl said.

and about Natalie (l/k/a Kennedy)
She stated that (redacted) was placed in a box about three-to-four years ago and was made to sit still due to moving in her bed that night. Because she could not sit still and kept trying to get up, Crystina placed heavy blankets, a crib and more boxes of unknown items inside the crib to weigh it down.”

ROSE HILL, Kan. (KSNW) — The adoptive father of Kennedy Schroer, the 6-year-old girl found buried in a Rose Hill backyard, has pleaded not guilty to charges connected to her death.

Joseph Schroer, 53, waived his right to a preliminary hearing this week in Butler County District Court. He is facing five charges, including aggravated endangering a child and interference with law enforcement. A judge is expected to decide in October whether the case against him will move forward to trial.

same article says Crystina in still on track for her next hearing set for July 9

As to the BBM - OCTOBER? really, to decide whether to charge who knowingly facilitated the abuse of multiple children in his home and did nothing to stop it? Right up until it ended in a death? Not sure why so long is need for the judge to contemplate doing the right thing here. MOO

I am somewhat glad there will be no trial. No abused children will have to testify about what it was like to live in that household or watch a sibling die.
