Please don't harm this precious, innocent child!!! Release her in a safe area and call someone to say where she is. Please just don't harm her!

How far is he going to go if he doesn't have a vehicle? It was Fathers Day, was Mom angry that he actually chose to spend time with his child? There’s very little info provided and parental alienation is a real thing. I’m struggling to see what Dad is doing wrong without more info.

Maybe the concern is due to his recent alleged criminal activity?

Sedgwick County Jail show that an Alton Tyler James Jr. was arrested March 5 on suspicion of multiple crimes. They include domestic battery, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, contempt of court and failure to appear. He has not been criminally charged since that arrest, Sedgwick County District Court records show.

That certainly doesn't work in his favor. But did the court order supervised visitation? That’s the key. If not, he is free to take her wherever, should he let Mom or family know, of course. But from the criminal history, we know he’s not thinking things thru.

Hopefully, we all pray, he keeps his baby safe. Mom is likely being proactive and ensuring her baby is safe. And good for her, she’s doing exactly what she should do. We all know the court of public opinion would crucify her if something happens, and she hadn’t requested help.

I wish we had more details. As you pointed out, he left on foot; so are we to assume that part (his picking up the two year old) was an agreed upon plan that day but he did not return her on time and that prompted the mother to contact LE or is he not supposed to have her at all?

No amber alert. Police say this does not meet FBI criteria for an amber alert. This is an attempt to locate the child who police say could be in danger.

Here is amber alert criteria. And it’s not been met. Child is not considered an abduction victim since father has joint custody.

But investigators say based on statements father made to mother, she could be in danger. They want to talk to father.

Did anyone watch the news briefing ? Looks like it’s based on threats made to mom but they need to get his side of story. And see her to see she’s ok. I didn’t catch the entire briefing but this is what I’m understanding from the parts I heard. I’ve not been on fb yet to find the briefing and watch. It’s only imo from whAt I recall. Kids are being rambunctious this am so I didn’t catch all.

Dad made ‘concerning statements’ about toddler’s safety, prompting search, police say
[...]

Capt. Brent Allred said “it’s a possibility” that the toddler, Anyla James, may be in danger. Her 34-year-old mother reported to Wichita police that the child’s father, Alton James Jr., was possibly suicidal and made “concerning statements about the safety of her welfare” around 5:50 p.m. Sunday, when they were due to meet to exchange custody of the girl.

The 2-year-old was not abducted, Allred said Monday. Her father, 28, had her lawfully for the holiday, and there is apparently no court order that gives one parent custody preference over the other, he said.

[...]

“Our main concern is her safety and well being,” Allred said of the toddler.

“We would like to check her welfare and to contact her father to see that we have a better understanding of what actually occurred yesterday.”
