Bold and made larger by me

That's not good.

I am worried about this too. Sure, he should not have put this baby in this situation but if there is doubt, reporters should have held off and if the Polis started shooting, why? when there is a baby there. I dunno nothing about guns, except my own which I only use for target shooting, I am just worried about the reporting here

Family members told local media the three lived together with McGowan's family in Atchison.

Court records and posts on McGowan's Facebook page revealed a troubled young man with a violent past, eager to broadcast both his demons and his fatherly affection for the little girl, whose name was tattooed on his forearm...

One day before the alleged kidnapping, authorities issued a warrant for his arrest for missing a court hearing related to a domestic violence charge.

The mother of a young Kansas girl killed following a police chase and shootout wants investigators to take their time in gathering the strongest case against the man who allegedly kidnapped the child.

The family of 5-year-old Cadence Harris were getting an update from investigators Monday at the Leavenworth County Justice Center...

Cadence's mother, Christina Harris, said she and Marcus McGowan, the man who allegedly kidnapped the 5-year-old on Friday, got into a fight. Harris said he pulled a gun on her, so she had to run to a neighbor's house to call police. By the time she went back to the home, McGowan had taken her daughter.

Former FBI agent Michael Tabman said reviewing video cameras frame-by-frame from Leavenworth police patrol is only part of the investigation in a case he calls "very unusual"... Video cameras from police patrol cars captured some of the exchange of gunfire. Cadence was later found dead in the vehicle.

"You had an innocent girl, maybe not directly in the line of fire, but possibly in the line of fire. Police have to use an awful lot of discretion," former FBI agent Michael Tabman said...

At one point the suspect can be seen pointing a gun toward officers. Kitchens said not everything that happened was caught on tape.

I guess the ballistics results came through.

'Authorities are seeking first-degree murder and kidnapping charges against a man in connection with the fatal shooting of a 5-year-old girl in Leavenworth Friday night.'

(Said) Monday evening that they are seeking charges of first-degree felony murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated child endangerment, aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer, felony fleeing and criminal possession of a firearm. '

Mom's insistence that she never imagined McGowan would harm Cadence isn't making a lot of sense to me, in the light of this:

'In 2009, Harris gave birth to Cadence and also was involved with McGowan. He choked her and even fired two rounds from a shotgun into a vehicle as she was driving away in it, according to court records. There were children inside the vehicle at the time, and Harris threw her body across them to protect them from the gunshots, according to court documents.'

She deserves nothing less than an adjoining cell right next to her man. IMO

The article has been updated, with this paragraph.

'This is the second child that Harris has buried. She lost an infant son in 2006 to what was ruled at the time as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

The baby's death was re-examined in 2008 when a four-month-old infant by Harris nearly died.

According to a Leavenworth Times article from 2008, the baby suffered life-threatening injuries that included a broken leg, broken rib, skull fracture and brain hemorrhaging. Bryan Quinley was accused of abuse, but he was acquitted of the allegation, officials have told KCTV5.

The baby survived the 2008 abuse and was placed in foster care. The child remains in foster care.

Harris told police that she was asleep when her baby was abused in 2008. She said she took the baby to the hospital when she noticed something was wrong, according to the Leavenworth newspaper.'

Oh dear God, would someone please sterilize this woman?!?!

Sorry, that's probably harsh so I should probably move on out of this thread. :furious:

So, to be clear, mom has had 3 children (maybe more?), 2 are now deceased and one nearly died from what would seem like abuse?

Horrible! This woman has no business having children!

Her selection of men also appear to be very poor. A man in her life is more important than her child! It is not my opinion, her history is proof!

This literally happened right down the street from where I live. We live on Ft.Leavenworth and Metropolitan is the main road coming into Leavenworth over the bridge from Missouri. The main gate to post is at 7th and Metropolitan. We live near the front gate area. Where the crash occurred was just past the Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary and at the intersection leading toward the back area of Ft.Leavenworth where the two Military prisons are located. I recall hearing the shots because where I grew up shoot outs happen daily. My husband and I thought it was odd because it is so out of place to hear that here as there is virtually no violent crime here at all. (We just house all of the violent criminals). I believe he intentionally led the chase there with the intention of killing her and himself being killed by "death by cop" suicide. As for the mother, well, she doesn't need any more children. Sterilization may not be enough. Moo
