Update 8/14/2019

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is no longer seeking the public’s help in locating Deputy Derik A. Chandler or his vehicle. Chandler’s location has been determined to be outside of the United States of America. We appreciate the assistance from the media and the citizens of Sedgwick County.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing any further information regarding Chandler at this time.

IMO, technically this WS thread may need to be moved to the "Located" forum.

Technically it may not be moved as the person has not been located and is only believed to be in Turkey with no proof or sighting.The sheriff office is internationally not in charge, reads the person is still the run but out of there jurisdiction.
Unfortunately i do not expect that this case will move soon, maybe by a chance some private person may give some information. I do not expect the turkish law enforcement to act there is no pressure and he is only believed there.
Just a thought, I have not seen that he was cleared of the suspicion of crime involving minors, so maybe by this thread we can support the progress on this one.

I hope they catch him soon. Crazy how he got a job working for the police after being charged before with child abuse and aggravated battery- while it was dismissed, it makes you wonder why.

KAKE-TV reported that Chandler spent the last year and 10 months with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and was considered an exemplary employee. He graduated at the top of his class and had no complaints filed against him, according to Jeff Easter, Sedgwick County Sheriff in August.

A background check showed Chandler did face charges after a bruise was found on his stepson in 2013 in Sumner County. But Spencer wrote in an email to KAKE-TV that “subsequent investigation revealed alternative explanations for the bruise on the child’s buttocks so that charge was dismissed in November 2013.”

Missing former deputy charged with sex crimes is being brought back to Kansas

After two years of being at-large in Europe, a former Sedgwick County Sheriff Deputy accused of sexual misconduct with an underage female, has been caught and is currently being extradited to Sumner County.

Derick Chandler, 30, of Wellington is being transported from Budapest, Hungary and is expected to arrive at the MCI Airport in Kansas City tonight (Tuesday) at 10 p.m. Sumner County deputies will then escort him to Wellington where he is expected to face five charges surrounding sexual misconduct. The official complaint detailing those charges has not been publicly released, but Sumner County Attorney Larry Marczynski expects to do so by Wednesday after Chandler is in Sumner County custody.

Marczynski said Chandler was taken into custody in Budapest, Hungary perhaps 45 days ago, and has been in jail there ever since. Once the necessary paperwork was filed through the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands, the extradition process began.
