Miller had testified against her boyfriend, 41-year-old Stephen Bodine, in exchange for the chance to plead guilty to a less serious charge in Evan's death.

Evan was the subject of a monthslong custody battle and at least six reports were made alleging he was being abused.

Prosecutors have said that Bodine and Miller tortured the boy for months before his death, including chaining him naked in a basement and forcing him to stand in a corner for hours.

Stephen Bodine was sentenced in December to 109 years in prison.

Evan Brewer's mother sentenced to 25 years in prison for boy's death

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) A Wichita mother convicted in the death of three-year-old son who was found encased in concrete is sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Miranda Miller is charged with second-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, abuse of child and aggravated endangering of a child in the death of Evan Brewer.

The Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office offered Miller a plea deal in which she agreed to testify against her ex-boyfriend, Stephen Bodine, who was also charged with the boy's death.

Four people spoke during the hearing including Evan's father, Carlo, Carlo's ex-girlfriend whom which he has other children and Evan's siblings, and the boy's aunts, Cheryl and Carol Brewer, who have advocated since the case regarding his death was opened.

Miller also spoke saying she tried to get out of her abusive relationship and get help.

She said she felt she had no one but herself to protect Evan. She said because of her drug addiction and Bodine's abuse, Evan died. She said she should have done more.
