I wonder how common this mother's attitude is in the United States? Amongst those on public assistance? I see the struggle and I believe it takes a village, don't get me wrong. I'm just curious, with the break down of the "family unit", with many biological father's being absent, how are parenting duties being handled? Is it common to share responsibilities as Jacklyn does, for days at a time, with her kids?

It seems as if Jhornee was shuffled around a bit. How was she treated during her two little years? Was her death just an indication as to how awful her situation was or was it just a totally messed up accident?

Rest in peace, beautiful girl.

No charges will be filed at this time in the death of Jhornee Bland

The mom had not seen the child between when Miles picked her up on Wednesday and when she was found deceased on Monday, if LE let her see the remains, that is. But the dad said he saw her on Friday. Why wasn't the child with her own family on Mother's Day? Why would a two year old not be with a parent or grandparent for that many days? Poor Angel, poor family.

ETA: Then I read in another post that the mom saw her at 8:30 am Sunday. But the time of death was after 1 am Sunday and before 8:50 am Sunday? Poor reporting, I assume.

Ok. So the birthday party host found the child dead, and put her body in the car and dumped her body in a field, and no charges are expected to be filed.

Hm. How unusual.

On the other hand, maybe the prosecutor felt like not one really cared for this child all that much, and the party hostess Miles who had had custody of this toddler for 4 days just panicked and had no other criminal involvement in the case except to find her deceased body and then dumped her in a field.

This has to be one of the more bizarre stories I have read on here in my years. I know it says no charges will be filed right now, I understand they can still come. What I don't understand is how this woman is out of jail? If more evidence is needed then they could at the very least charge her with hiding a corpse or something along those lines. This is a weird one for sure. Poor little angel....

Wichita baby sitter who left toddler’s body in field pleads guilty

Miles is set for sentencing on June 28 before District Judge Jeff Dewey, according to court records.

The conviction carries a presumptive sentence of seven to 23 months. If Miles has few or no felonies or little other criminal history, she’ll likely be placed on probation.

how the hell did this baby die? they couldn't figure it out at autopsy if I recall. 2 year olds don't just die.

I really wish they would have called in another coroner to help figure this out because as it stands, no one will be held accountable for Jhornee's death. I cannot believe the woman wasn't even charged with neglect or something.

Wichita mother believes toddler's death was murder

[....]

Eyewitness News obtained a copy of that report, which says Jhornee's body had blunt force trauma.

"She was bruised real bad," Hardin says. "I believe she was killed. No doubt about it."
