*Sweet Lucas*
I have been following your story since we heard you'd gone missing. This thread is the last thing that I check at night and the first in the morning. You are constantly in my thoughts and I am in awe of how loved you are by the strangers who are planning searches from afar and those who are actually out there looking for you.
I wish with all my heart that I could help search for you too. But what I can do is keep you in my prayers - and hold your loved ones close too - and pray that you are found soon.
Some days it's frustrating to not be able to do any more than to glean info from such dedicated and passionate people and wonder if I can add anything of value to the search ideas of a place I have never visited before.
But, as with so many others, we will be here doing whatever we can in our capacity to find you, you sweet, gorgeous and precious boy.
Sending big hugs to all involved in the search for Lucas - from South Africa with love xx

I read upstream that NG was featuring Lucas soon. Does anyone know that schedule. Once that airs, we're going to get blasted with new members posting.

It has been postponed. I think it might be be back on for this week sometime. I'll check with PB on that.

ETA: Checked with PB... either tomorrow or Thursday :heartbeat:

I forgot to add that ESO was such a trooper. She told me to put the van in neutral, hopped out of the van and was ready to try to push us out on her own! AND she is still willing to let me drive!!
Y'all are awesome!!

I'd like to add my thoughts on this.

Lucas is not a rough and tumble kind of kid. When he plays with his older sister and things start getting rough, he doesn't like it.

I also wouldn't exactly describe him as shy. When Lucas met my other nephews for the first time he was the one to jump in and start playing with them. I've never observed him as being a wallflower or standing off to the side while other kids play. He always gets right in there and has fun even when he's with new friends.

Maybe it's just a difference in environments. But the neighbors report of how Luke just stood there with his hands in his pockets breaks my heart. Was he so "sick" that he couldn't play? Was he so scared of Emily that he wasn't comfortable?

These are the questions that eat away at me. He wasn't quiet and shy over here. Why was he when he was there?

Thank you for sharing. That is a very, very good question.

I was just thinking the other day -- remember the "Penny Power"? It's long gone, but is there anything similar that goes far and wide?

GigTu -- there is a section of the USPS website that lets you put in zip codes and decide where you want to send direct mail. If we could find a way to get two-side post cards mailed and you chose which mail routes, we wouldn't need addresses. https://eddm.usps.com/eddm/customer/routeSearch.action Thoughts?

My heart hurts about this every day -- I feel so useless in my current position, only having hopes, prayers, SM, and you wonderful people. This is what EG wants--she wants us to forget. I imagine she never thought it would blow up this big. We have to keep pushing for Lucas. He is not only "Wichita's son," but also "Websleuthers' son" and he is in the hearts of so many beyond -- I can't imagine if this were MY child, begging to keep him on everyone's minds.

I imagine the mayor's office, etc, would support LE. However, there is a growing movement against DCF for the very reasons you've mentioned and more. I wonder if we can get any of these people to talk about Lucas some more....now I'm thinking....

I would include Cowley -- very quick and easy -- K15 to 77 gives you a very fast drive through southern Sedgwick, Sumner, and Cowley -- N on 77 takes you into Butler.

We will never give up! I have hesitated to say this because I hope he is found sooner than later, but (God forbid) he is still missing beyond the next 10-12 weeks, I'll be looking too! Thank you and everyone else searching and navigating!!!!!

I have wondered about National Guard and McConnell personnel -- also the community colleges with stellar CJ programs --
Cowley comes to mind!

I live in Cowley county and have been searching farm roads and ditches and creek beds for weeks. Taking different routes to work to cover what I can. I know the focus isn’t this far out but it’s what I can do. I also work part time at a small rural post office here and although we can’t post any flyers in the actual office I do talk to the customers when they come in to get their po box mail. Lots of farmers here.

So, I asked about the date the cat was surrendered yesterday... do we know where it was taken?

Both topics, flyers and search - we need to give a BIG shout out to Henry for spearheading both, and appreciate the heap of effort that has been and continues to be put into those efforts that you no longer see.

After all the time and effort gone into finding search locations, posting them, then continously updating the completed list, a tough decision had to be made. The other day Henry had to turn around and flag probably 700+ of those posts for removal. Maybe more. It was a thankless effort that probably took the wind out of all of our sails.

Let's cheer the incredible amount of effort that has already been put in to finding this sweet little boy we've all adopted into our hearts. And please, let's continue providing new search ideas here that Henry can then behind the scenes turn into real boots on the ground action. Let's blow some wind back on those sails. :cheer:

Amen! BUT, you get a huge shout out, too! Your maps are A MA ZING!

This is interesting...ours is postponed for every Federal holiday. Not that this statement does any good for finding Lucas, just interesting, as I thought that was standard. I've used 2 different private services (we don't have a city run one), and they both did that, so I assumed it was the norm. But I agree, they don't get snow days around here very often. Heck, neither do I. [emoji2]

Just thinking out loud...

All of ours are privately run too. Holidays suck for us families because the guys won’t just leave after their individual routes are done like they normally would. So they will help each other out til every route is done. And since giving away stops off your route affects their incentive rate (they get paid either per stop or an hourly rate, whichever is higher), they help each other without taking credit for those stops. What really sucks, is the office staff gets the holidays off tho! The guys don’t mind because they get paid double those days, incentive plus 8 hours holiday.

I don't see how it doesn't matter. It's one thing to have a city breathing down the backs of the PD, the news outlets, social media, etc. It's even bigger to have the whole state of Kansas and all the other states too! It's important that everyone knows.

I meant people who need to be aware to be actually searching. People outside the Wichita area can't help find his body.

They were able to keep the media spotlight on Casey Anthony because she was in Florida so all their investigation was being revealed. LE here will keep it quiet forever if they can (see Randy Leach case - 30 years missing and they won't even let his parents see the investigation file).

It was surrendered to the humane society and re-adopted the next day IIRC (2/12-2/13)

Wichita Animal Shelter from what I know on the 12th and out on the 13th - possibly adopted?

I don't think so. I've been hoping to hear from his teacher for a while now.

No doubt, LE has silenced his teachers and any school employees such as aides, lunch room workers, maintenance, office staff.

I am glad the cat found a new home. Probably safer there :scared:.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, maybe post on local hunting and fishing forums? (Maybe get permission from the moderators)

What's with the Wichita Police Department Animal Shelter?

In some cities the Animal Shelter is run by the Police Department. Ours used to be that way but it was recently separated.

I don’t completely agree that people outside Wichita can’t actually search for his body. Nothing is to say that he is still in Wichita. My mother who is on the here searches and she doesn’t live in Wichita, she lives in Cowley county. JMO.
