Something most people dont know. Baez hired a woman to help in jury selection. She could spot an idiot from a mile away. The rest is history.
I was shocked when she got on TV to brag about it.

Hiring a jury selection expert is part and parcel of what an attorney does, Baez didn't do anything out of the ordinary with that, in fact prosecutors do the same thing.

Iam disappointed with media coverage on this case. In your opinion intense media coverage like in the CA case help or hurt investigation/ prosecution

I respectfully disagree. Wichita has a fairly busy news cycle and they are still mentioning him (KSN ran 2 stories about him last night) on a regular basis. He has already gotten significantly more news coverage than the average case. I believe some of our very own local WSers are responsible for this push, which is just super cool!

I do think a case can be over-covered, especially once it goes national. The CA case turned into a public spectacle, as have others (OJ, for example).

I can see it happening somewhat in this case, too, with all the smack being said about JO. That's making for an unnecessary distration & layer of crap for LE to wade through, not to mention the pain it's causing her and her family.

On the flip side, the coverage can (hopefully) make a difference in Topeka regarding DCF improvements that need to be made. Lucas and Evan can leave a huge legacy for kids who are suffering abuse in this state.

In similar cases, the children are often found very close to home, within a few miles. Considering EG's possible intelligence and potential to be a little more educated about criminal cases, etc, as well as having a potentially wide timeline, perhaps she has gone further out, but not thaaaat far out. Hope this makes sense, moo.

Are there any rock quarries around there? Random thought...

In my opinion, the answer to this is both. Briefly, there is no substitute for increased public awareness; our Late Great Foxfire always used to talk about the value and importance of LE utilizing it's greatest resource, the public.

Conversely, as a result of increased media exposure, particularly via Social Media, if certain pivotal details come out that are supposed to be kept close to the vest, such as search locations, persons of interest, etc, this could compromise the case and/or prosecution. For example, I am following a local case where the mother of the disappeared victim has made pleas on Facebook NOT to post certain pictures, names, etc particularly for this reason. Additionally, with increased awareness also comes increased rumors, etc. which could also present a problem for investigators, as mentioned by Leazenby in Abby's and Libby's case. Innocents can become victims of harassment (side by sides of random people posted on facebook), etc, etc. As far as prosecution, increased media attention certainly makes it difficult to find an unbiased jury pool.

So, it can be a double edged sword, in my opinion.

I for one would have no problem sending someone to the death penalty.

Especially when it comes to children- I’m all for the death penalty! I hate to do this here- but America has became soft!!! When it comes to children, eye for an eye may really come and handy. If these murderers are punished the same awful way they brutalized their victims, I can bet the child killers will slowly dwindle away.... all my opinion of course but even the death penalty seems too lenient on these monsters!

This Valentine's Day stuff is interesting.

The only thought I have is to point out that she made a point to tell JH she was using her Valentine's Day present from him (OG gift card) on the 16th and telling lies about V Day itself. I am back to thinking OG is a lie, but she was in that area.

And sent him off to his cousins...is she trying to say he spent time with cousins from his maternal side? Is she not throwing her own cousins under the bus like I'd previously thought? :thinking:

Mostly I'm just marking my spot to stay up to date on Lucas.

I'm in the camp she had help. How they haven't found that other person or if they have, that they haven't broken is crazy to me. I think EG knows what happened to Lucas, but I'm not positive she knows exactly where he was placed.

And when you look up the intersection her phone pinged at on Google maps, apartments are right there. Could she have been at those apartments with mystery person? Picked up OG to go and went to smoke a few more bowls and eat? That person went back home with her and witnessed what happened from there and was her accomplice?

V-Day...where was LH for this day and how does it factor in? We know LH was seen after this by LL, but where could he have been for that day and how does it play into this? I think the bigger picture is EG LIED to JH and included JO in this "story". Why??? Jealousy? Easy story JH would believe and possibly not even question but when he did she was busted?

Who could her help be for someone who had something to lose? A lover? A girlfriend who has kids also? A drug friend/dealer?

So many pieces of the puzzle I just can't fit together. AGHHHHH. Now that JO has been "brought" into this with the lie, why was EG aiming at her? Trying to pin the blame? Was this actually thought out in advance vs her just losing her **** and killing him?

I wasn’t stretching my imagination, but in my opinion all potential (s) should be ruled in until ruled out.
We have not been told if this or a trafficking scenario has been ruled out by LE.
I sure hope it has but I have reasons that cause me pause and great concern, not “imagination”!
