Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but thinking I've heard there's a difference between Mental Illness and Personality Disorders? BPD, NPD, Sociopath, Psychopath etc would be PD, while Bi-Polar, Depression, Schizophrenia etc are MI. MI is more treatable? Can someone with more experience weigh in? @JazzTune?

ETA: How the heck do you tag someone on here?

I recall this being mentioned around the time TES headed back to TX. They had trained local volunteers and I believe their advise was to expand the search up to a 100 mile radius eventually.

Thank you for your response. I have looked and looked for an article that mentions it, and I can't find it anywhere. If you come across it, I sure would appreciate a link.

I don't know if you can tag a person, I would think you would have to message them. jmo

Understanding*The Cinderella Effect

Families come in all shapes and sizes. *No matter where you live, you probably know at least one family with only one parent raising the child, one child living with grandparents, and*one child that was adopted.
Regardless of the make-up of the family, the caregiver-child relationship is one that is, at least ideally, full of love and a desire to protect the child from harm. *As a parent or guardian, you are charged with raising the child as well as you can, with the child’s best interests at heart. *Sometimes, however, in the case of a step parent and step child relationship, there is a “disconnection” between the love a parent should feel for a child and the actual bonding that takes place between the step parent and step child.
Multiple studies have shown that non-birth parents*care for children across many animal groups. *Of course, humans exhibit the step parent and step child dynamic, but animals also have “step parents” as an evolutionary tactic to ensure greater survival. *The problem occurs when the step parent does not have the same interest in protecting the child that a birth parent would have, whether due to a failure to bond or due to an underlying resentment or abusive behavior. *In extreme cases, the caregiver becomes an abusive step parent – this is called the Cinderella Effect

Definition of the Cinderella Effect – Abusive or Ambivalent*Step Parents

The version of the fairy tale of Cinderella most people are familiar with involves a controlling and manipulative step mother, two step sisters that receive all their mother’s love and affection, and a neglected step child, Cinderella, who is forced to cook and clean and isolated from the rest of the family. *Cinderella’s father dies, but instead of embracing Cinderella as one of her own, the evil step mother shuns her and treats her like a servant. *The Cinderella Effect is named after this version of the story.
The Cinderella Effect is the mistreatment of or ambivalence toward*one’s step child (or children) due to a lack of the selfless love that birth parents are wired to feel from evolution. *To qualify, this definition is based purely on the scientifically tested*hypothesis that step parent ambivalence or*abuse will happen more frequently than abuse or lack of affection and caring by one’s birth parent – it does not mean that step parents are incapable of loving someone else’s children, nor does it mean that all step parents abuse their kids. *What it does mean is that there is statistical evidence that shows that children are more likely to suffer from step parent abuse than abuse*by a biological parent. *Statistically, more children suffer mistreatment at the hands of a step parent than from a biological parent.

It has nothing to do with a child telling stories that is absurd...

I agree. But it is my understanding EG was using this explanation (and others) to explain away Lucas's telling on her.

Does a private investigator have to be licensed in each state separately to work in that state?

Forgive me if this has been answered already
To work as a PI in Ks, one must obtain a PI license (with Ethics board review and $1M bonded insurance policy/OR deposit $250,000 directly with the state treasurer) OR they must ‘apprentice’ with a currently Kansas licensed PI

My little dog Andee died on Thursday he was only 9 years old. Needless to say I have been very distraught and crying for days. Unable to sleep. I am just lost. His toys are still all around I don't have the heart to put them away.
Oh no! I'm sorry. My heart hurts for you. :grouphug:

Well I can't for the life of me understand how EG can sit there in jail like that and not say anything about Lucas. I can't imagine anyone being so cold hearted.

What an evil soul...

Im truly sorry for your loss.
I know the feeling.
Take some comfort in knowing he had you to love and care for him for the time he was here.
Do get another furry friend over time.
One is waiting.

In seven single-spaced pages, the child-in-need-of-care petition describes a dysfunctional and violent household.

It says Emily Glass, Lucas' 26-year-old stepmother, has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, has difficulty controlling her anger and has experimented with methamphetamine and heroin.

Jan. 23, 2018: The day after the school nurse saw the injuries, Lucas came to her office with a stomach ache. The school nurse called Glass, who picked up Lucas, and he returned to school two days later with a note from a pediatric nurse practitioner at GraceMed Jardine Clinic. The note stated, ‘Patient’s injuries are consistent with a fall."

The school nurse said that Lucas missed school on Feb. 1 because he was throwing up at school. He vomited again on Feb. 6, and Glass picked him up. He missed the next two days of school.

I now believe she was either poisoning him or he had internal injuries from the beatings. Bless his precious lil heart. I will never understand brutality against a child. Never ever.

Why was Lucas still in that house after all of this reports of abuse? That is so heartbreaking. As for his father shame on him that he let this happen.

Terrible to read the new article. Poor little Lucas! :tantrum:
Will the Dr.'s who wrote the notes have any accountability? Seems like malpractice.

I hate her more than ever and that is a strong word for me to say! I think that EG and JH had someone on the side especially since the baby was allegedly JH's.
