I really feel that the jury letting her go on the other charge is giving the DA fear of charging her with anything until a charge is sure to stick. Sure there's things they could arrest her for, and keep her in jail, but there's some reason they aren't, and we know it isn't because they need the body. They have that. So I don't get the rationale myself.

I agree also this is not a time for family and emotions to be on display. I know a lot of locals put in countless hours but they didn’t do it for notoriety and I’m sure like pink agree let it be private

I agree. I’m a thousand miles away and can grieve by doing anything to change the system. Let his family grieve in private respectfully. A separate service for the compassionate folks that so unselfishly gave time money and their hearts grieve separately and with respect to their contribution and love ❤️

My mind just can't go to the no arrest, no one held accountable thoughts. I just can't. Too many precious souls waiting for justice that wasn't to be had. I just can't go there...

I sure would love to be a fly on the wall of the DA's office to try to figure out his strategy. They should have been working on charges since Lucas was reported missing and as you said, they are not waiting for the body now. I guess they are still waiting for the final autopsy report, though. It will probably be a while before they file charges. Sigh.

They have to wait for toxicology. For example if he was over medicated, poisoned or had a virus or bacterial infection. All of those tests take time and some are done at labs outside Kansas. Massachusetts General is one huge certified lab. It might take 2 days for transport then there might be several intricate steps to each test. Tox takes time. They need the whole result to charge her with their best provable case. Imo

Plus, I have seen the beautiful momentoes that people have left and the balloon releases.... the public has shown that they care...now let the family mourn....and I feel it should be JUST family

Public memorial services are very expensive though. Family get charged for everything unless perhaps held at a park.

I think the family statement from Misty Cox yesterday made it pretty clear that they will make a decision soon, based on what they think is most appropriate. In most of these sad cases, the family has a small, private funeral and then a larger, open to the public memorial on a different date, often held in a high school gym or a public park or something.

I can't imagine attending a funeral for someone's child if I had never known the child or even the family before the child's death, but I tend to think of funerals as small events, probably because I grew up in a very small town. It just feels intrusive to me, but maybe some families would feel comforted by a bunch of strangers attending.

I agree.

A relative of mine (infant) was murdered by her mother (we were Fathers side) and we had a small funeral. But there was an open public memorial after at a community hall near to where she was laid to rest. We felt it needed to be family only, there was too much attention on the case and it finally gave everyone a space to grieve.

If I decide to get involved I know it’s going to be a battle. Re homeschoolers they want no visibility of any kind by anyone. That’s how those kids in California fell off the radar and the mothers who drive their suv over a ca cliff did as well. We had a huge problem with it in rural Alaska. But they always took $$ allotted to each child for education.
RSBM

Respectfully, not all homeschoolers are out to play or ply the system. And yes there is real fear because many times those laws and policies include ambiguous wording that imply homeschool in and of itself is a form of abuse.

I pulled my next to youngest from the public school brick and mortar system in first grade. I fight numerous battles on behalf of my youngest and I have to sleep sometime; it’s a ‘pick my battles’ sort of thing. I don’t take a dime for my next to youngest’s schooling from anyone. He attends an online public school from home. When I pulled him from school it was a decision that was (unusually) supported by the school staff; many do not have that luxury and fight many battles just to be able to homeschool. Homeschoolers themselves are not as a group abusive parents. There is abuse everywhere, at every level, in Society - very sad but very true.
I am sorry this went off the main topic but I felt it important to be said

I'm sorry for your family's loss. It definitely should be a family decision and if anyone in the family is uncomfortable with a large service, that should also be respected by the other family members. Nobody wants to be "on" at a funeral, having to shake hands with strangers and make small talk with someone they don't know. Funerals are already draining experiences.

I'm going to have to stop the homeschooling discussion before it starts, folks.

This is not the thread for that debate and it's irrelevant to Lucas' disappearance and death. Take it to your private conversations if you must, but it can't be here.

Thank you!

I don’t think so. He met his goal and that was finding Lucas. I think he’s helping a lovestruck guy see the truth.

Sure, but I also think that to him the truth may be more important than a lovestruck guy... who might have to recognize his responsibility for that unhappy ending :(

...sigh...

I know this is all sorts of wrong, and way off topic.... but guys?
I really want to start a cover band called Meat Wallet.

Thanks, tnith!

Do we make our own papier mache masks of CA & EG or what.

I have questions here. Deep ones.

Exactly. I also hope no one feels obligated to appease the masses by inviting the public. This is about Lucas and his family, no one else should even be considered. It is sweet if they want to think of others, but PLEASE family, do not feel obligated. It is so important they do things their way and only their way. They have lost control in so many other ways that they need to have control over this.

I don't know how to tag another member (or if you even can), but PhoneJockey was describing behavior of people using meth, saying " It also causes you to have a VERY hard time keeping track of time. You can spend what feels like 10 minutes on Facebook or doing some thing and you realize it's actually been 2 hours.".

We'll, I've never done meth, but I definitely have this problem - it happens to me every time I get on WS!! o_O:rolleyes::D

ETA: I'm still working on getting thru thread 26, so I'm behind (which is why I couldn't reply).
Agree, I never done any of theses drugs, However my health took a turn about 14 years ago and I went through a long list of meds through doctors. I am allergic and sensitive to a very long list of medication. Fast forward to now doctor has settled on Topamax and morphine . I am suffering from memory loss. It is good thing I never tried street drugs as I would have died as bad reactions as I have.

Thank you, LT.

Absolutely, the family needs to do whatever it is they need/want to do for them to get closure and the time they need to say goodbye. And for Lucas to be laid to rest peacefully.

Well, she's free as a bird right now, which is disturbing in and of itself. I hope LE doesn't dilly dally too long in charging her. I believe she's most definitely a danger to society. She needs to be put back in a cell as soon as possible.

I look at what's going on in the Lunsford case currently and I want to hurl.

If you have Google Maps on your phone, open it up and then go to Timelines. Select any day in the past week and you will see how that works/what I mean when I say it is EXACT.

Location history needs to be turned on in order to see where you went.

I must have it turned off. No history on mine.

I was finally able to listen to the podcasts, using the Bluetooth headphones worked!

A few things I took away were that DM is pretty shrewd himself. I felt that there was a lot of things that he held back. I’d consider his confidence level in what he has said and hasn’t said to be bad news for EG. The other was that I don’t think he’s as buddy buddy with JH as JH thinks that he is, there is no doubt in my mind that DM, in his mind, only works for Lucas, no one else.

The whole time I was listening I kept wondering if EG has listened to these podcasts? If I was in her shoes I’d listen and be scared to death that the charges the see in the works for her are real and that her time is almost up. It also made me worried again about suicide. I know she thinks a lot of herself but I also think that with the choice of prison or not suicide is a possibility. I really hope not, Lucas deserves to tell his story and get justice and in my mind that wouldn’t be justice.
