*Preliminary Hearing via Zoom (@ 10am CT) – KS - Nancy Thode (72) found dead in her home at about 6pm June 29, 2024 in Olathe. *Brian Christopher Thode (40) [son] arrested (6/29/24) & charged (7/2/24) with 1 count of 1st degree murder (unlawfully, feloniously, intentionally & with premeditation) & 2 counts of animal cruelty {unlawfully, knowingly, maliciously & feloniously killed a cat & a bird in the home). Bond is $3M. Johnson County
Judge Michael P. Joyce presiding. DA Mendenhall & Zadina & defense attorney Carl E. Cornwell, public defender.

Defendant ordered to appear on Zoom on 3/5/25 for preliminary hearing @ 10am with Judge Foth presiding. There were an interesting article about matricide in the UK in The Guardian today. I wonder if the situation in the US is similar, that sons convicted of have killed their mother are more likely to be sent to a mental health facility, compared to those men who kill a partner or ex-partner.
