KS - Nora, 7, & Aven Jackson, 3, missing after double murder, Leavenworth, 24 Oct 2020 *arrest*

It was the mom's neighbor who said they were separated but were trying to work things out. They said that DJ visited his wife and daughters frequently, and was there as recently as Thursday.

She probably never imagined he was capable of something like this. Maybe she was hoping he would get some help. I hope we don't find out there were several calls to the home for domestic violence or that she tried to get a restraining order and wasn't able to get any help.
Thank you. Yes, I keep feeling like this poor lady was just trying to give her children a good life. I can totally see her trusting him if he was never violent with the children, which is the most likely scenario here. What's clear here is that he was not in his right mind, those poor kids.

There is so much more to this case than meets the eye. The swirling circumstances include minors, so I'm unsure we will see details released in the media. Once again we see mental health at the center of a horrendous crime.

I'm heartbroken for Mom and the girls :(

Was he supposed to take the kids to the soccer game? If not, it doesn't make sense that mom was at the soccer game when the children didn't show up.
Yes, it sounds like he was supposed to take them, since all of the kids except for the baby were with him. Maybe he had the girls overnight for visitation, and they were planning on exchanging custody after the game.

Thank you. So he's facing the death penalty or life with no parole.

I'm wondering if he was planning on taking all of the kids with him and the boys refused to go.

Maybe it was his wife who wanted the divorce and he was the one who wanted to work things out. Maybe he thought she would get custody of all of the children so he killed the boys in a fit of rage and took off with the two younger girls. His wife must have had the baby with her.

What a tragic outcome. It's too bad he couldn't have been stopped. Those two boys had their whole lives ahead of them and he took them away. I hope he lives the rest of his life behind bars and the rest of the family can recover and heal from their loss.

links said he filed though.

In September, Jackson posted a series of chilling messages on his Facebook page.

"Be nice to the demons, they make decent pets," he wrote on September 13.

One day prior, he posted: "You can be as deceptive as you want, but you can not hide the nature of an animal."

"When you have to lie to the mother's body to carry your seed, do not expect the abomination to succeed," he said on September 10.

According to Leavenworth County Court records, Jackson filed for divorce from his wife, Tara, on August 20, 2019.

Their next hearing was scheduled for November 12, 2020. On September 4, 2020, records show his attorney was granted permission to withdraw and Jackson began representing himself.

The statement, in full, reads:

As many of you know, my client, Tara Jackson and her family suffered a traumatic loss of two of her oldest children and the kidnaping of two daughters.

On behalf of Tara Jackson, her family and friends, she would like to thank everyone who came together to bring her daughters home safe on Saturday. The Leavenworth County Sheriff's Department, Kansas Bureau of Investigations, Kansas Highway Patrol, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Beckham County Sheriff's Department, the unknown truck driver that called in a vital sighting, the various law enforcement agencies in the Towns and Counties along the way, and the many other people that helped search. Tara also appreciates the media and reporters who played a large part in getting the information out concerning the abduction of her daughters and assisted in locating them.

In addition, she wants to thank everyone that has offered support and assistance in her family's time of need. I would like to ask that you respect her privacy during these next very hard few weeks and months that Tara and her family have ahead of them.

There is a lot of unanswered questions concerning the events of Saturday October 24, 2020 and other matters over the last several months. However, there is an open investigation and pending litigation, therefore I will not answer questions at this time.

I'm sorry if this was covered before and I missed it, but does DJJr have a criminal record at all?
IIRC, early articles on the case mentioned he "was known to law enforcement," but there was no elaboration on the types of crimes he had been accused of/charged with/convicted of before now. Folks on here were wondering if he had a history of domestic violence charges, but I don't think anything was announced beyond that.
