But they are going to die anyway. So why would they care if a cop kills them, or if a citizen shoots them. Their life is over either way. They don’t care. If more people being armed was the answer, we would be the safest country in the world, but we are not.
They do care Kaa. They aren't going to come there if they already know someone on the premises has a firearm who can kill them even before they get to shoot anyone. That is why they always hit areas where they know they will have time to shoot multiple victims before the police arrives with weapons. That is why they continuously hit gun free zones. I have no doubt Ford knew that employees there weren't allowed to have any type of firearms on the property. He knew he would have ample time to shoot multiple people before the good guys with guns got there to stop him. The mass shooters objective is to shoot as many victims as possible before the police closes in. They know it takes time for the police to come and it takes mere seconds to shoot a gun each time.
It doesn't matter how many weapons lawful citizens own. If they are not allowed to have them where they work or other places they go then they are defenseless sitting ducks for the mass shooters to come in an kill them just like Ford did. All of these places where mass shootings happen are public places, like theaters, malls, companies, and are gun free zones. That is why we have seen over and over again mass shooters taking advantage of that. The only ones who will abide by the gun free zone rule companies put in place are the ones who abide by the law. It is the one who has no respect for law and order who doesn't care what the rules are. In fact a mass shooter likes it that many places have restricted gun possession on the property. It only benefits the criminal hell bent on doing grave harm to defenseless others.
Well now that you mentioned it. Yes, it is true and around 150 million law abiding citizens do legally own around 350 million firearms and that figure is continuously climbing. Yet, in the past 6 years our overall violent crime rate including homicides has steadily declined. The only places homicides have risen are in the crime ridden large inner cities filled with gang violence where people are murdered/shot on a daily basis. These offenders are criminals-ex felons who have illegal weapons.
More and more guns purchased legally yet violent crimes have steadily declined overall for years now.
The homicide rate was much higher back in the 90s than it is now when we had a lot less legal gun ownership back then. I believe why it has steadily declined in the last few years is more and more criminals know more and more law abiding citizens are buying firearms to protect themselves. Criminals are really cowards and that is why they target defenseless people. Every now and then they make a mistake by picking the wrong home and windup being the one killed instead of the victim they preyed upon. I am reading more cases than ever before how it ended badly for the home invader/armed robber than the homeowner because those homeowners/residents weren't inside of their homes with no way to protect themselves from being assaulted, raped, robbed and murdered. They had a firearm and it saved their life and the lives of their families.
It shows with 350 million legally owned guns in the country only a teeny tiny minority of legal guns are used in crimes. Much less than even 1%. A lot of murders by firearms are committed by those who have illegal weapons and there is no way to ever stop criminals from obtaining them since other criminals sell them on the street/steal them and also gun runners are bringing them in across our open boarders to sell to those who cant obtain one legally.

I sure hope all of the victims who were shot make a full recovery.
The community has to be devastated. I really like this Sheriff and I think he and his staff are really going to investigate Cedric Ford to see who he really was.
