Wichita police: Hunter finds human remains near Oaklawn

Wichita police are investigating after a hunter found what are believed to be human remains Friday morning

Officers responded at around 8:30 a.m. to an unknown call for police near 55th Street South and Clifton, which is south of the Oaklawn neighborhood.

A deer hunter in southeast Wichita located skeletal remains. Appears to be near K15, the main route southeast out of Wichita.

No physicals or further info yet.

Being so close to K15, it seems plausible that this body could have been dumped where it was found.

Yep, this was one that Namus immediately generated. This is the complete opposite side of Wichita, though if foul play is involved, that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Donald Cook's vehicle was apparently found abandoned at 3823 S Madison in Wichita. Google Maps doesn't generate this address properly, but it appears to generally be on the same side of town as this discovery.

Police identify human remains found near Oaklawn

The bones were identified by the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center as those of Donald Cook of Wichita. Officer Davidson said Cook was reported missing in May of 2017.

So it was Donald Cook... now the question is why he was across the Arkansas River from his car.

I wonder if the correct address where the car was found could have been 4823. That address comes back much closer to the location of the remains.
