Found Deceased KY - Amanda Bailey, 26, Madison County, 30 Jan 2019

BBM

Maybe Amanda drove to the ex-boyfriend house to meet him for what ever reason and from there they rode together in his car and eventually ended up at the lake. She then got angry and walked off.

Hoping the 6newscast on WLEX answers some questions.

Well this is sad. And frustrating that pieces are missing. She walked off he says. Hmm. Awful lot of people walking off and being found dead. Let’s see....,

Although it has not been confirmed that the body is Amanda Bailey’s, her family says she was last seen by her ex-boyfriend on Monday and could have followed a path that led her to Elkins’ farm.

“There’s a creek she would have had to have crossed to go to where we found her, and it’s like waist-deep and if she had gotten across that creek hypothermia would have set in,” said Elkins.

Is Amanda's family only saying she last saw her ex-boyfriend Monday (at Reba Lake), or are they saying she may have followed a path as well. Not exactly sure if they are saying both, or Elkins is saying the second part. If the family says she could have followed the path, then I guess they know her as a pretty tough woman who wouldn't think twice about setting across fields and streams near dark.

Map of Lake Reba (LR), probable path, stream, and property (pin) where she was found.

If she knew the path was there, she would know there was water there. And she just met her ex-boyfriend so she was probably a bit dressed up. Then she just decides to walk across 4-lane Route 52, then get on this long path through fields and walk into a stream in very cold weather. When she could have taken Concord Road which would have been faster. And why was she walking 2 miles...

C'mon man.

I hate that my mind thinks these scenarios but I can't stop the brain.

Could she have been drugged and set out in the wooded/creek area therefore she had no choice except to walk for help? I know nothing of the area or the situation other than media reports, but I know there was supposedly a meeting at the lake. Just thinking out loud.

Thanks for the screenshot. That helped to confirm for me that she most likely didn't intentionally choose that route. Something's strange to me but not sure what just yet.

I think she crossed the creek not knowing how deep it was, we’ve had a lot of rain!
IMO, she was simply too distraught about her former relationship, maybe walking, sobbing, feeling hopeless. Moo, she looks desperately sad in every pic I have found.
FYI, Mr. Elkins said the second part, it was just on wlex.

I'm sensing desperation here. Could he have been chasing her?

Indeed.

Indeed.

I think she was very familiar with the area & took off upset.

Well I would hope LE can get answers about what caused her to walk away. Or run, if she was upset. Which seems so out of whack to me. And really, who picked that location to meet? Wouldn't she feel more safe, just overall safe, in a more public setting? Wouldn't any of us? IMO JMO MHO

Lake Reba is actually a very logical and safe place to meet and talk things over. There is a parking area that would likely have other people there- sitting or going to a walk. I just can't make myself understand how she got to where her body was found.

Body found in Madison County identified as 26-year-old Amanda Bailey.

She was found around two miles from where crews were searching for her, according to WKYT.

Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison identified the body to be Bailey’s through fingerprints, he said.

The cause for Bailey’s death has not been determined. Cornelison said Bailey was out in the cold for a long time, he added.

How exactly does he know this?

Why is it worded like this, instead of saying- showed signs of hypothermia and disorientation (tracks)?

Amanda's body was outside in the below freezing temperatures for almost three days before being found. I would suspect the coroner knew her body was out in the cold for a long time because her body was frozen.

It will likely be a few days before a complete autopsy can be preformed because of this.

One thing the coroner didn't say was there were signs of blunt force trauma, gunshot or stabbing, which could have been established from an external examination of the body and would lead one to believe foul play was involved.

IMO, they both know the lake area like they know their home street. Monday was a fairly nice day, too. I think they prob agreed to meet up, to have privacy. Idk, does ex live with his family, a new gf, or what? I think LE has prob checked the ex bf’s phone for texts/calls & AB likely arranged the meeting place. If someone wanted to get in a brawl or murder someone, Lake Reba’s not a good venue, imo. Jim, it is a public area. Despite the weather, there’s always people around.
I’ve seen some young women all emotional over their bf, it’s crazy, imo. Social media seems to cause a lot of relationship problems.
As far as her safety, I’m not aware that she was afraid to mert with her ex, if so, she didn’t have to drive to Lake Reba. Overall safety? Where are we safe? Jmo

Good point, thanks. I tend to read what I want to read, instead of reading for basic comprehension, haha. I thought he was saying she was out in the cold for a long time before she died. Not sure how I made that leap.

I think she simply got turned around.
We have no idea what the convo between the two consisted of. Speculating, I’d say one party wanted to reunite, maybe.
Another thought, she may have been in her car when he left & decided to get out to walk a bit. Who knows?
Considering the age group, I bet there’s a lot of text info that will enable LE to get the scope of what was going on.

Her crossing the creek is bothering me. If she got turned around, she would know she hadn't crossed the creek. If you're walking and come to a creek, why cross it and get wet, even if it's just your shoes? Who wants to walk back to their car in wet shoes? Most people would turn and walk along the creek. It just doesn't make sense to me, unless she was extremely upset. MOO

Well, it’s very sad. She may have tripped & slipped, going in the creek & in haste, got out the wrong side. The current may have carried her. Idk how deep the water is.
Her ex must have an alibi & as I suggested before, imo, he has a phone full of texts from A.
She looks so lost & sad in her pics. Moo

I agree. She didn't go wading through waist-high water without good reason. It's simply not logical. MOO

Can you please post the photos where you think she looks sad? I don't remember seeing any. ???
