The story behind a missing Lincoln County woman continues to unfold, as authorities follow leads alleging she was beaten and buried in a field.

April Neikirk was reported missing Friday, May 11, after family members said she hadn’t been on Facebook and her phone was going to voicemail. Jonathan Perkins, a friend of Neikirk’s family, said Neikirk left her daughter’s house in the Waynesburg area of Lincoln County in a 2015 white Chevy Equinox on April 25.
According to Sheriff Curt Folger, she’d been missing for about two weeks at the time they made the call; Neikirk has been known to leave for days before, he said.
In what authorities thought was an unrelated call, also on Friday, May 11, Lincoln County deputies were dispatched to a home on Cemetery Road for a possible domestic situation, according to Deputy Rob Oney. Oney said Kentucky State Police were at the scene for backup.
A female, Brenda Snellings, had been beaten, and Otha Wesley, of Lincoln County, was arrested on assault charges by KSP Trooper Derrick Walls. Snellings was taken to the hospital for treatment.
“At the time, the Snellings girl told the sheriff’s department that he (Wesley) possibly beat April about two weeks ago. They weren’t together at the time she says it happened …” Oney said. But Neikirk had, in fact, been missing for two weeks.
The sheriff’s office also received a tip that Neikirk was drug off into the woods, or buried in a field. Tuesday, deputies were searching a wooded area with cadaver dogs, but had no luck.
According to the Lincoln County Regional Jail, Wesley was charged with fourth-degree assault “domestic violence, minor injury,” and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. The arrest citation described the situation as the victim being Wesley’s girlfriend and having a black eye upon authorities’ arrival.
The victim told deputies she had been with Wesley for several days and they had several arguments, and she had several bruises on her body in addition to the black eye. The victim said she had attempted to leave on multiple occasions, but claimed Wesley would not allow her to.
Monday, Wesley bonded out in court. According to the jail, Judge Janet C. Booth set his release conditions and bond, which were $1,000 and serving time on weekends.
According to the jail, Wesley has been arrested several times.
Oney says the puzzle pieces are still coming together, including tracking Neikirk’s debit and credit cards, which were last used on April 25 or 26 at a gas station on U.S. 27 South near Pulaski County.
“I’ve contacted the owner of a Caney Creek BP, and they’re trying to pull footage for me. We’ve got a tip that she was seen in a maroon Chevy S10, so we’re trying to get that footage.”
Neikirk has two adult children and two grandchildren, according to previous information from Sheriff Folger. Anyone with any information about her disappearance is asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at (606) 365-2696.

[h=1]Foul play a possibility in Lincoln County woman's disappearance[/h]
The sheriff's office says April Lynn Neikirk, 46, is 5'4 and weighs approximately 140 pounds.

She was last seen on Cemetary Road, but crews in the area found no leads when searching the road. They had received a tip of where she may be located.

“We had some information that this person might have been harmed," Sheriff Curt Folger said, "K-9’s searched the area for a body. Luckily there was nothing found.”
Deputies say foul play is a possibility in this case.

Search for missing Lincoln woman continues
As authorities continue to receive tips connected to a missing Lincoln County woman, two searches have been conducted in the last week but no “hard evidence” has been found.
Authorities returned to the same area where the first search was conducted — an initial tip police received alleged Neikirk was “drug off into the woods, or buried in a field” — last Friday, May 25, to continue to look for evidence.
Wesley, who is considered to be one of a few suspects in Neikirk’s disappearance, did not show up to serve his weekend time last week, according to Lincoln County Jailer Rob Wilson.
“We want to remind the public that we need help with information to be able to find her,” Megan said Tuesday. “Foul play is suspected in this case, just from previous tips police have received, and we believe someone knows something.”

There was human remains found today in Lincoln County. Could this be this missing woman? I’m sorry but I’m new here and I don’t know how to post a link or the article.

Decomposed human remains found in south Lincoln County
The body was too decomposed to determine identification or gender of the person, Lincoln County Coroner Farris Marcum said. The body has been taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort and an autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday morning, Marcum said.
Lincoln County Sheriff Curt Folger said his office got a call around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday — “a guy was wanting to pretty much take us and show us where the body was.”
There were no facial features that could be used for identification and there was “tight material wrapped around the decedent” that prevented analysis of the hipbone, which can indicate gender, Marcum explained.
The autopsy Wednesday will be “very thorough” and will hopefully lead to an identification through dental records, Marcum said.

This doesn't look good for her at all. It seems LE has a lot of Information though, so I'm hoping this comes to a quick resolution and those responsible are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Something "tight" around the body? Definitely sounds bad!

Kentucky State Police confirmed the identity of the body Friday morning. KSP and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office had located the body early Tuesday morning in the Pilot Creek area south of Waynesburg, but the level of decomposition slowed their ability to identify the remains

Otha Wesley, 45, was booked into the Lincoln County Regional Jail at 4:51 p.m. Thursday and charged with murder, domestic violence; abuse of a corpse; and tampering with physical evidence. He was being held without bond Friday afternoon, according to jail records.
