I’m assuming he may have been a veteran if he was wearing dog tags.
Poor fellow was probably in a great deal of pain from his arthritic condition ( DISH)

Just googling things & found a comment made by a ‘David Copley’ following an article in the VA news ( VA being the US dept of Veteran Affairs….I didn’t know this being in the UK) The article was to honor VA nurses.

On 5th May 2020 this gentleman says “Thanks to the great nurses at Hershel Woody Williams VA hospital”

The hospital mentioned is 15 miles from where the decedent was found.

Coincidence ,or the same fellow, treated at the hospital for his medical condition, and died in a homeless encampment?

Paints a sad picture.

The age range is so vast (adult, pre-80). I'm thinking we will find out he's over 40. <modsnip>

Williamson Daily News, 1992. (it's on the right side). The decedent of Canada, Kentucky was a veteran, and usually if there is one military man in the family, they are not the only one. Whoever this David Copley is, is his grandson.

Also, I found where someone named David Copley left a memorial comment on an obituary in 2020. He says he is a Ret. SSG. "Ret. SSG" means "Retired Staff Sergeant." (X) This decedant was also a Kentuckian.

It's tragic the way we treat so many of our injured and damaged veterans.

This is the official website for the hospital that's mentioned. I would think that if he was a veteran, he might well have been there, under some name.
