I posted about these remains on a different thread before there was a NamUS (just local news).

They are somewhat near property relatives of a suspect in Crystal Rogers' disappearance, which was the main focus for the news, but they aren't her. They were found near the Beech Fork (the Nelson/Washington border). I posted some maps on the other thread and here are two local news stories about their discovery.

The other thread is about a pair of serial killers who were active in the general area in 1990, when one was killed by a surviving victim and the other was arrested. They dismembered their victims and spread the pieces in rural areas of central Kentucky.

Summer rains likely contributed to human remains’ discovery

The recent discovery of human remains along a tributary of the Beech Fork River was likely the result of a combination of nature and luck.
A human skeleton was discovered July 23 as a neighbor of the property was walking the area, according to one of the owners of the property where they were found. The property owner did not want to be identified publicly.

The person who discovered the remains noticed what looked like a bone protruding from the side of the creek bank at least 10 feet above the waterline.

Remains, found two weeks ago, about four miles from Houck family farm

Kentucky Standard (Bardtown, KY)

A landowner stumbled across bones July 23 in a washed-out creek bank in a tributary to the Beech Fork River near Manton Bridge on the Washington-Nelson County line.

The remains were about 10 feet above the water line when The Standard visited the site four days after the discovery and after an FBI evidence recovery team excavated the site.

The bones were exposed from the side, in a bank that had been eaten away by high waters over the years, according to the property owner, who did not discover them but knew her neighbor who found them.

In a TV news interview that aired Thursday night, another property owner in the area estimated the bank had eroded as much as 10 feet over the past few years.
