So he leans out a window and shoots at them. Then doesn't shoot any more as he realises it is LE. If what you say is right then why did the GJ disagree and believe it was self defence by Mattingly and Cosgrove? When he called 911 he knew it was LE because he stated in his interview that was why he did not shoot any more and kicked his gun under a bed.

ETA have you a link to the Kentucky statute please? Otherwise it cannot be quoted as a fact.

There has not been a "no true bill" released. We don't know what the grand jury heard or didn't hear. This is exactly why it is important to see/hear/read the grand jury testimony.

See above, the question in the post:
If what you say is right then why did the GJ disagree and believe it was self defence by Mattingly and Cosgrove?

Certainly not someone I'd want on my force.

I guess the LMPD wanted such a cop as he remained employed for many, many years even though complaints had been lodged. This behavior seems to be repeated but always seems to have been deemed unfounded. Hard to think how women would be able to telegraph to each other the behavior of this man in order to make unfounded complaints. And, the system denied each one as if there was no pattern.

From LMPD investigating officer involved in Breonna Taylor raid for sexual assault:

Kendrick Wilson who filed a federal lawsuit claims Hankison targeted him at St. Matthews bars from 2016 to 2018. At least one instance was reportedly over a woman. "Lawyers, all the little girls that hang out in St. Matthews know that Brett Hankison is a dirty cop," Wilson said.

An allegation made in court records by attorneys for Breonna Taylor's family shows concerns about LMPD:

LMPD investigating officer involved in Breonna Taylor raid for sexual assault
"Brett Hankison is the worst predator, the worst type of predator. He used his badge to sit outside of a bar when he worked off duty and look for intoxicated women. He has no business patrolling the streets of Louisville," Kentucky," says Lonita Baker, Attorney for Breonna Taylor's family.

Records also show in 2008, he was accused of receiving oral sex in exchange for not arresting a woman. In 2015, a woman claimed he attempted to have sex with her in exchange for not taking her to jail. Both incidents were deemed to be "unfounded" by internal investigators with LMPD. No mention of the incidents were included in Hankison's personnel file. "

I listened to the interview of the Gov on NPR. The interviewer said the Gov called for release of the transcripts. However, the Gov never actually said that. He did call for the release of information which is in line with a previous post of mine where he calls for the AG to release the info he can. The Gov may well have asked for the release of the transcripts but it wasn't in this link.

No I inferred that from the fact that LE executed a warrant at the wrong location
FACT CHECK: Debunking 8 widely shared rumors in the Breonna Taylor police shooting

Claim: Police were at the wrong apartment
Various Facebook and Twitter posts have claimed that Louisville police went to the wrong apartment the night of Taylor's death when they served the no-knock warrant.
The search warrant for Taylor's home includes her street address, apartment number and photos of her apartment door, which police later broke using a battering ram.

Taylor's name, birth date and social security number are listed on the warrant, alongside the names of the narcotics investigation's main targets, Jamarcus Glover and Adrian Walker.

Our rating: False
The search warrant for Taylor and her home explicitly identified her and her address. The Louisville police were not there by mistake. They believed that Taylor had ties to Glover, one of the main suspects in the investigation.

Officer Hankinson who was blindly shooting into the apartment was using his police issued 9mm weapon.
No Cops Charged Directly in Breonna Taylor's Death, Brett Hankison Charged for Shooting Into Nearby Apartment

Cameron said Mattingly knew he was shot by Kenneth Walker and that there is no evidence to suggest he was hit by friendly fire. Ballistics report backs this up, he said. He said Mattingly was shot by a .9mm bullet, while the cops carried .40 caliber bullets. He said Mattingly and Cosgrove were justified in their use of force after being fired upon by Walker.

I don't see what these have got to do with BT's death when it was not his bullets that killed her. This just seems to be trying to discredit him and LMPD in general. Presumably those allegations have been investigated and are separate incidents to this case. If they are connected perhaps it can be explained how? Otherwise they are OT IMO.

Officer Hankinson who was blindly shooting into the apartment was using his police issued 9mm weapon.

First time I have heard this stated as fact. Could you please povide a link. tia

A termination letter sent to Officer Brett Hankison released by the city's police department said Hankinson violated procedures by showing "extreme indifference to the value of human life" when he "wantonly and blindly" shot 10 rounds of gunfire into Taylor's apartment. The letter also said Hankison violated the rule against using deadly force.

The letter said Hankison fired the rounds "without supporting facts" that the deadly force was directed at a person posing an immediate threat.

"I find your conduct a shock to the conscience," interim Louisville Police Chief Robert Schroeder said in the letter. "Your actions have brought discredit upon yourself and the Department."

It's important to this case to note that Officer Hankison did not fire a 9mm handgun. All of the officers who fired their weapons used .40 caliber. See link in my post above.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>

Unfortunately, these women (and the four who have claimed to be abused after he drove them from the bar) have lived it and with a LMPD system that protected him. Thank goodness he is now fired. Should have happened a long time ago.

It makes you wonder if when Mattingly said he had to calm him the night of the killing, there was something more going on for Hankinson. He seemed so amped.

From Audio tapes reveal new details the night Breonna Taylor was killed:
Prior to police entering Taylor’s apartment, Mattingly described an argument between a neighbor and LMPD officer Brett Hankinson.

“I remember Brett extending his gun saying get back in your apartment, get back in your apartment,” Mattingly said. “Brett was a little bit worked up. And I remember at one point, because they kept exchanging, you know while we’re doing this, I remember looking at Brett saying Brett, relax. Brett just relax, relax. Because you know while you have to pay attention to them, that’s not your focus.”

Hankinson was later fired after it was determined he shot into Taylor’s apartment 10 times that night. He was accused of violating the department’s policy on the use of deadly force.

So a neighbour came out and saw them there before they actually executed the warrant. So that neighbour knew they were cops presumably.

I don't really understand all this focus on Hankison. His bullets did not kill Breonna and he fired after Mattingly took a bullet anyway. Did he shoot into Breonna's apartment as well as the neighbour's ? I thought the wanton endangerment was only for firing into the neighbouring apartment.

This is conjecture as I don't know the exact locations of all the officers. It seems to me that Cosgrove and Mattingly went thru the door while Hankison stayed outside. When the initial, "warning shot" hit Mattingley they all fired their weapons while retreating. One of Cosgrove's shots fatally hit Breonna's pulmonary artery and KW at that point realised it was LE and threw his gun under the bed and called his mother, then 911, then Breonna's mum while outside LE were calling for backup, saving Mattingly"s life and presumably getting him to hospital. Police were not sure at that stage of the situation inside or whether they would be fired on again, so they could not assist Breonna. MOO.

Breonna Taylor case: FBI invesitgation still open after indictment

"FBI Louisville continues its federal investigation into all aspects of the death of Breonna Taylor," spokesman Tim Beam said. "This work will continue beyond the state charges announced today."

The FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office received findings from the investigation conducted by the Louisville Police Department's Public Integrity Unit.

In June, FBI officials were at Taylor's apartment to execute a search warrant. At the time, Beam said the FBI will investigate "all aspects" of Taylor's death, including interviewing witnesses who have and haven't already spoken to LMPD.

They also are examining all physical and video evidence to better understand what transpired, he said.

The FBI's Civil Rights Division, based in Washington, D.C., is working with the Louisville Field Office on the investigation. The Civil Rights Division can charge individuals under nine Title 18 civil rights statutes, including deprivation of rights under the color of law. Those violations include excessive force, false arrest, obstruction of justice or deprivation of medical care.

If convicted, and because the act resulted in death, the individual could face life in prison or a death sentence.

Wait - so these officers Hankison, Mattingly and Cosgrove are FBI or LSP?

Or there were FBI officers involved also?

But appearing later that night on CNN, Steve Romines, one of Walker’s attorneys, said he had obtained an Louisville Metro Police Department record showing Hankison had been issue a 9 mm weapon as well.

Romines declined to share the record from Hankison’s personnel file with The Courier-Journal, and LMPD spokeswoman Jessie Halladay said she could only release it in response to an open-records request.

I wonder why the attorney wouldn't share the record? Was this 9mm weapon one that was previously issued to Hankison but returned when he was issued the .40? Perhaps a backup gun that was not fired that night? Who knows.

Regardless the evidence shows that the police were carrying .40 caliber guns and not 9mm. The spent shell casings would corroborate which guns were fired. Unless some other evidence supporting a "friendly fire" event surfaces I'm going with the account given by the Attorney General.

Ballistics don't support Cameron claim Breonna Taylor's beau shot cop

Why did you copy my post asking for a link to Hankison using a 9 mm?

He was trouble at Lexington also.

“Based on my observations and supervision of this officer for the past calendar year, I would not recommend him for reemployment at any time in the future,” McBride wrote in the memo. “Due to his actions in violation of standing orders, refusal to accept supervision, and general poor attitude toward the Division of Police and its commanding staff, I would in fact be strongly against the same.”

If Walker was the only one with the 9 mm, thats good enough for me.
He wasn't charge with any crime. His shooting of Mattingly was legally justified in self defense. I'm fine with that. JMO
