@MadMcGoo this is horrible.

with Lake B so shallow, are the bodies drifting in or dumped is my question. I can sure think of deeper water sources close to Lake B.

  • #3
Probably some of each, depending on the case, I would think.

  • #4
If they were drifting in, where would it be from? Or what water source? May give us a place to start...

Probably anywhere upstream, as far as the nearest dam (bodies usually can't get past a dam)

Sometimes bodies along banks and hillsides will be washed into a river or lake during heavy rains or flooding. They've had a bit of that in Kentucky the last few years but I don't know if any of it was in our areas.

So most likely Tennessee River and maybe Ohio River? I guess I meant, could they have made it into Barkley from another state just by traveling downstream? Or been dumped in a body of water somewhere in, like...Illinois or Missouri and made their way here.

I need to go investigate the maps more closely. It looks to me like the dam is between the body and the Ohio, but it winds around so much and twists through the hills in a way that makes it hard to tell which way it's flowing or how the tributaries come in.

I think Tennessee is quite likely. For bodies on the Kentucky side of the Ohio, any of the surrounding states really.

You’re the best! I hate waterways...and Kentucky just happens to have one of the most complex system. I am learning a lot about Lake Barkley though thanks to everyone whose helped paint a better picture :) (expect me to continue to ask questions though :p)

Im finding a few actually that I’m surprised haven’t been ruled out (that we know of).

Perry Ray Robinson Jr.
South Dakota - April 1, 1973
- 35 years old, 6’2”, 200 lbs
- A civil Rights Activist, MP travelled to South Dakota from Alabama, to participate in the American Indian Movement (AIM) takeover of Wounded Knee.

* Henry Louis Baltimore, Jr.
Lansing, Michigan - May 31, 1973
- 21 years old, 6’1”-6’3”, 170-180 lbs
- Henry was scheduled to testify as the victim and witness of an armed robbery that took place in March 1973, but he vanished a few days before the hearing. At the time of his disappearance, Henry was a social science and music honor student and the drum major for the Michigan State University Marching Band. His 1968 Buick was located on campus and all his belongings were in place.

ETA: bolded for emphasis

EETA: ugh... I was reading the date of discovery incorrectly :oops:

This possible match is based solely on the premise that the MP’s height is somehow being reported incorrectly. Hubert Miller missing from Cleveland, Ohio since August 1971. His height is listed as 5’1” and his weight 165 lbs. Is it possible there’s just been a “1” left off of his reported height and he’s actually 5’11”? That would still put him slightly under the estimated weight of our Doe. But I’ve been thinking about Hubert and it seems like he could fit. I don’t know if the fact that the UID was exhumed not too long ago for DNA extraction would be it would be an automatic comparison/ruleout?

eta: and Herbert’s a bit younger at 24 years old.

The Cumberland River (Lake Barkley) starts in Eastern Kentucky, meanders into Tennessee before passing through our area in Trigg County, Kentucky. It converges in Smithland, Kentucky with the Ohio River.
