WAVE : Search underway for missing Bullitt County child

[...]

As the day goes on, the search becomes more and more urgent. However, search crews want to assure the public they have the manpower they need.

"We've got more than enough help. We've got 40 firemen alone," Southeast Bullitt Fire Chief Erik Butler said. "We've got search dogs, blood hounds, and all these people is coming out in the woods and messing up the scent. I mean, we appreciate people wanting to help but they would be better help if they stayed at home."

People who live in the area are asked to check their buildings for the child.

Southeast Bullitt Fire Department and the Bullitt Co. Sheriff's Office are among the agencies involved in the search. Because the area where the girl was last seen borders Fort Knox, the Army is also conducting a search on their property.

There is a lot of forest in the area, the dog might be her saving grace.

This is so scary. Just 2 years old. I hope the dog keeps Charlee warm and away from water. It's going to get dark soon.

This breed gets a bad rap. They can be super protective. I feel if she got near water she would drag her out.

The search continues for Bullitt Co toddler Charlee Campbell. Grandmother noticed her missing around 9:30 this morning. When I asked if crews would suspend the search at nightfall First responder said: ‘I don’t know- how do you quit?’

Rescue crews searching rural Bullitt County for missing child

Missing since 9:30 a.m., Thursday, June 7, 2018 from her grandparents home. Her dog (a silver grey pit bull) is with her, thankfully. Article says she is two years old, but video (with sheriff) states she is 3 years old. My son-in-law has been involved in the search all day. Just returning home, and they are still searching for her. She is believed to be "autistic."

This has been posted in "missing persons." I am not yet familiar with posting on the new site yet. Don't know how to remove. Could someone please remove for me?

I sure hope I haven't posted this in the wrong place....I'm just getting used to the new website. Sorry, if I did, and I hope someone can put it where it's supposed to be posted, if not here.

My son-in-law was involved in this search today and has just returned home. I posted this article in the WRONG place. So sorry. I'll see if I can remove it. If I can't, I hope someone else will. So thankful Penny, her dog, is with her. Still, no sign as of 6 p.m. today.

Bless your SIL! I worry about dehydration, being that Charlee's been missing since early morning. Unsure of your weather there but it's been hot and awfully humid here in NC today. Hoping they are shaded by the trees, but not to the point where they're obscured! Prayers up and fingers crossed...

Yes! Pibbies can be wonderful dogs and they do love their humans. I posted about Penny protecting Charlee from water before reading your post. A thousand pardons :)

No pardons necessary, we are all on the same side!

My mom said something to me about a girl being missing a little while ago. With her being so young, I figured that it was in some custody dispute. But none of the stories I've seen about this alluded to such.

Also, she went missing from the middle of nowhere. It's actually closer to Shepherdsville than Lebanon Junction. In fact, it's closer to Bardstown Junction (if that's still considered an actual town anymore) where KY-61 and KY-245 intersect near I-65 in the Bernheim Forest area. If she really did just wander away, thank God that dog is with her. It may just save her life.

The dog could be the game changer in this.

Did they find her???

I tried to make another post and it said that "I didn't have permission." I've never seen that happen before.
