So if this is a small town, did anyone know that a 13 year old was seeing an 18 year old? Why did no one go to the authorities before they ran off? Has the girl lived in the area long? How was she buying cigs at 13? Have we heard if she was attending school before they took off? It just seems like no one knew Cheyenne very well or everyone was turning a blind eye to what was going on.

A small, close-knit community where no one knew this CHILD is only 13 dating an 18 yr old. Mmmhmm... sounds like every small, close-knit town I've ever known of (where everyone knows everyone and everyone's business).

/sarcasm off

According to a comment someone left on a facebook page, The father knew about the relationship.

Just wondering if there is a media FB page you can share a link to?

  • #204
Unfortunately, the media does this on PURPOSE to grab your attention. It works like a charm, but in this case it's just feeding the ego of these two, assuming they're following it on social media (and I'd be shocked if they weren't). Very irresponsible reporting if you ask me.

I would think if they were, LE would be able to track the internet IP address to the location where they are at or if they are using their mobile phones, be able to track these.

IMO, I don't really believe they are following on any social media. but I'm not sure. jmo

Only if they were logged in on their own accounts & commenting. If they're just reading FB or twitter or even the mainstream news sites, no one would even know, except them. Both of them seemed to be rather active online so that tells me they would *likely* be following their own names in the news. That is assuming however, one or both of them has a phone, ipod, or some device with them (which these days, pretty much every teen does, or they fly into convulsions or something).

I saw where Judy Compton posted on the fb page referencing her going through the same thing.

Did anybody find the comment?

A poster HNM says something and then AQ responds with her comment. She posted it 8 hours ago.

I found it. Next question. Did her dad know how old he is? If she lied about her age, would she lie about his age? Either way this whole thing is sad and scary.

Yes, I saw the comment, thanks.

Okay who besides me IMMEDIATELY suspected this dynamic duo when the news of the mall shooting in Florida broke earlier today? :(

I just don't see it ending well for these two at all. Even IF it doesn't end in a hail of bullets, they've both already trashed their lives. AND FOR WHAT? Nothing...

bbm

That would be :hyper: me, O'Mom. I certainly did...then when I heard the word, "body," I immediately thought C was shot dead. Florida being the location made sense, so my mind leaped. The more I listened, the more I knew I was wrong.

But we (you & I, for starters) may not be wrong the next time. They are, unknowingly & uncaringly, creating this coming critical mass that may destroy them.

They really just need to :truce:. They already have people :scared: and they need to go to :jail:

I bet C will play the :innocent::angel: if she gets caught.

I though the same thing.

my jaw would drop if they both did not end up dead.

and the MSM needs to quit feeding their egos and making sound like they are two love struck teenagers a la Bonnie & Clyde.

Yep, iluv -- First, I must say that I do wonder how much MSM they are actually seeing -- wheeling around in one stolen vehicle after another, grabbing what they can in a big hurry, etc. I just don't see them in a No-tel Mo-tel anywhere. But if they do see such articles, I would think it does make them giggle and pat each other on the back, a la "Ain't we smart?! They'll never catch us! Where to next, Sweetie?"

I must say -- and I have been on WS for a few years and followed cases that were maddening when the offender was so cruel & uncaring; or when I knew one of the victims; or cases where the offender just pizzed me off with every MSM article that I saw. But this one has them beat. This is the damnedest case I have ever seen.

I doubt they're seeing much on MSM. More than likely they're only hearing broadcasts on the radio in the vehicle. Unless they have a tablet or laptop connecting to WiFi but we don't know how long they may have been planning this.

Just saw short interviews with both mothers. Her mom is definitely blaming him and her baby is innocent. I hate to judge but I'm questioning the home environment of these 2 even more now.

I am in no way excusing the 2 criminals but crikey.

Good questions! Maybe the folks who saw the 13/18 couple just mumbled something to themselves or to a close friend and then just let it go. You don't want to pry or "get involved" or make any enemies -- especially in a small town, IMO. Plus who would you tell & what would you say -- her father or her mother; or his folks? No way -- you just leave folks alone. Maybe those who knew were afraid of her father -- who knoze? Mind your own business -- apparently no one said anything to anyone, or if they did, it went nowhere. No surprise to me.

I agree, iluvmua -- I don't think they have seen much of this unless they have been in a motel room with a tv or if they have a computer & the motel has wifi or some type of interwebs line. And I don't think they have had many nights in a motel -- but I could really be wrong. I wouldn't think they'd take a chance on being recognized in a motel lobby during registration -- and they would need some kind of ID to register, I would assume. And it seems to me that in the states where they've been or states near to those, a lot of the motel personnel would be aware & suspicious of both of them. She could always hang in the car when he registers, but still it's risky -- if they are smart enuff (?) to worry about that. I'll bet a motel would be a wonderful thing for them -- hot showers, a pretty good bed, maybe a breakfast bar with juice, coffee, danish, and donuts or bagels. Dunno.

Do we know if they have a vehicle at this time? They can't keep this up on foot...

I just saw on Yahoo they were caught. It didn't show on the show but it was in the headline
"The two were found asleep in a stolen Toyota Tundra in Panama City Beach, Florida, early Sunday morning, according to the Greyson County Sheriff's office. "The vehicle was surrounded by law enforcement and both Hayes and Phillips were taken into custody without further incident," it said in a statement, adding that an extradition process is now underway to bring the duo to Kentucky to face multiple felony charges.

The Panama City Beach Police Department said its officers had acted on information from the U.S. Marshals Service that Hayes was in the area in the stolen Toyota and found the stolen car in the parking lot of a Kirkland's. Hayes has been transported to the Bay County Jail to await extradition, while Phillips has been placed in the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families, the department added in a statement."
