On top of all that, they can't get witnesses scheduled the way they should. The witnesses should be lined up waiting outside; shouldn't they?

I guess it may be difficult to estimate how long the defense will take during cross-examination? I dunno. But, you'd think witnesses would be waiting particularly with all the time taken for numerous side bar discussions.

Was it clarified yesterday as to the caliber of the bullets and fragments recovered? We know at least one is a 45 bullet.

Does a 1:10am cell phone alarm set by a pilot with a Top Gun ringtone equal triple murder? Prosecutors hope a jury thinks so. A cell phone examiner is first on the stand today in KY v Christian “Kit” Martin, live now on

Who knows who the jury will believe, especially after that 2 report thing that happened today along with everything else.
Glad I’m not on this jury.

The defense has contended Martin set that alarm to wake him so he could check on a kerosene heater overnight.

The Judge was making himself a copy of the one the Prosecution had been handed by the Defense and Def. said he had paired down the 2k+ pages to these he was using.

In my experience yes. Even if they have to wait an hour or so. Half a day, if they have to fly in, get them a hotel room close by they can alert them to be ready.

not really a reply but about the Pam Phillips phone that was taken to the phone store by Joan Harmon. They apparently would not unlock it for her so she left and they called the cops. I think either someone wiped it to take out their info or more likely they tried many passwords trying to get on and it wiped automatically when the limit on tries was reached.

IMO, the female prosecutor doesn't have it together. She can't follow what she sees on her laptop and is always fumbling around with stuff. I don't particularly like her presentation.

Per Court TV that witness who flew in is a ME and last witness for the prosecution

Being shot 5 times like Mr. Phillips was, shouldn't there be blood everywhere? Shot in the neck and chest. multiple blunt force, contusions and lacerations to his head and face. Done by an object.

State rests.

Looks like defense won’t have their witnesses there until 9:00 Monday.

Jury released for the weekend.

The defense needs to find people who were around Martin to tell if he had wounds, I think.

ME testified there were no marks on Phillips hands, meaning he didn’t fight back.

Motion for directed vedict denied. Judge said enough evidence from commonwealth.

Defense will probably try again after their case.

I believe the state alleges that Calvin Phillips was killed by a .45 ACP Glock pistol that was found in Christian Martin's safe. And that Pamela Phillips and Ed Dansereau were killed by .22 Long Rifle ammunition, but that the state doesn't know what gun was used.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Martin was 'held' on Nov 20, if I'm not mistaken. His phone was taken. His home searched. Surely someone would have noticed if he had wounds, injuries, etc.

I have been thinking the same thing throughout this trial! Forgetting for a moment that the prosecution has major problems with their case, judging their performance only, I have not been impressed at all. Starting with the State's opening, she was so slow and monotone - zero energy. She lost me in the first 5 mins of her argument. In my opinion, neither of the prosecutors act like they fully believe their own charges. They gave a rambling opening argument and in their direct examinations they haven't even attempted to connect any of the dots to show correlation. If they are waiting until the closing arguments, it could be too late given the length of the trial. If I was the on the defense, for my close, I would take the states opening argument point-by-point and show reasonable doubt and each statement where they have failed to deliver proof and provide a visual displaying all of the problems with the case and the questions that still remain. Like, who did Kit partner with to commit these murders? It could be a long list and visually would be powerful...at least I think so.

Martin's house was not occupied for months when they put him in jail. Presumably Joan Harmon had made keys so she could do what she wanted and may have even known the combo of the safe where the .45 was located. She is that manipulative type of person. A lot could have happened in that house.

I have to agree on the tweeter person for this case. She gives NO names... frustrating to follow her. And neither is anyone here.... oh well. :(

Niner, here are some names:

Barbara Maines Whaley - Assistant Attorney General at Kentucky Office of Attorney General
https://www.linkedin.com/in/barbara-maines-whaley-74b9582a
Lead prosecutor in this case.

Medical Examiner Dr. Jeffrey Springer
Kentucky Coroners Association > Staff
He was the forensic pathologist who examined the burned bodies.

Jeffrey Scott Doyle - Kentucky State Police
https://afte.org/uploads/documents/AFTE_Glossary_Version_6.110619_DRAFT_.PDF
He matched the 45 case with the Glock
