so if Joan had Pam's phone...why did she take it to AT&T? Was she dropping it off like a lost phone?

Were they laughing at his ridiculous shoes?

Let's agree here, new shoes squeak, mine have (I donated them). He was probably in his first day wearing them.

They could have been laughing at the shoes, Martin's relief at being done on the stand, The collective relief of the defense for the same or even the realization that the defense clobbered the Commonwealth. ( the last was MOO!)

I certainly hope for an acquittal. I would have been be on his side of the aisle.

Sure hope Joan/her pals are under investigation.

'Just my thoughts before closing.

Even with Martin's overly talkative and sometimes rambling testimony, I think it was a good decision for him to take the stand. The evidence presented is circumstantial and even some of that evidence seems "off" (ie: shell casing, dog tag, security cam footage). It took a long time to charge him and (even without Covid delay) the case still should have had more "oompf" and a more direct path.

I always, always express my heebee-geebees regarding jury trials. I've served as a juror on several cases (though none were murder). So, here I go once again... jurors make me nervous. It's a right as American and I'm glad we have it but... jury trials are a crap shoot.
Yep, you really never know what a jury will do. Just look at this thread and see some differing opinions.

I hope those jury instructions aren’t too confusing with that complicity charge.

Great point! We have to hope that word (complicity) AND the lack of evidence for any co-conspirators won't go unnoticed by the jurors.

Jury Instructions are being read by the Judge this morning. I don't think there was any rebuttal.
I think the female attorney for Kit said something about his squeaky shoes. Kit laughed. I find it not appropriate the Judge staring him down like that. A Judge is to be neutral. This Judge has not been.

I’ve had several that were acquitted. I had two that were convicted.

The investigation into Joan Harmon, if it occurs at all, won’t start until Kit Martin is acquitted. However, I highly doubt the State of Kentucky or Christian County is going to make any effort to investigate her. (If they had, wouldn’t the State have introduced the evidence to exclude her as a suspect, leaving only the guy whose 45 shell casing shot from his gun and dog tag was found at the scene of the crime.). They are not going to risk exposing the possibility that they kept an innocent man in a cage for 769 days and allowed him to stand trial when he was pointing the finger at the woman who dropped Pam’s cell phone off at the AT&T store, while allowing her to be free for the past six years and make good on her threat to ruin his life. They would have to admit they screwed up. They aren’t going to do that.
No, they were in the bath.

I can't help but wonder if Martin is acquitted that a really huge lawsuit against all who are involved in this; Commonwealth, county, any and every one. Even the janitor at the courthouse. Let them wiggle out if they can. Joan and her kids, current bf and all their dogs.

Maybe that would break loose something on Joan and bunch.

going into this I was sure he did it. Now I'm not super sure which is unusual for me.
What if Joan really set him up?
What if he really did do it, but nothing was happening so she threw in the shell casing and the dog tag?
She AND her son pleading the 5th but not even having to show up to do so?? What did she and her son do that would incriminate themselves? Fake abuse pictures?

We just aren't getting the whole story.

I think it is hilarious that counsel both sides skate around " what were you doing" so much. What is Martin supposed to say other than "Naked Pretzel"?
What do 2 normal opposite sex people do when alone in a house and not "talking, showering, feeding the dogs?

I'm old but not That old!

I agree. In the beginning I too thought he was probably guilty. As the trial has progressed, I have changed my mind, which also is unusual for me. I also wasn't initially impressed with Griffiths during the pretrial; however, I have been impressed with him during the trial. I believe so far he is doing an excellent job with the closing. I am interested to see how the State handles their closing. I thought their opening was horrible, it rambled and they have no presentation skills what so ever.

Defense Attorney really needs to tie it up and sit down. Good grief! I'm gonna feel the same with the woman for the Commonwealth. Good grief!

Yes, I think he could have wrapped it up after they showed the video from the surveillance cameras, he lost me about 5 mins ago.

At this point I don't know how any juror is awake.

And here she goes. I'm sure this will be riveting...

can I just say...during defense closing I actually went out and did yard work...I come back in and now prosecution is just as if not even more so flat out boring.

I have to give a presentation for work next week on a super boring subject...tax....and it is much more exciting. I am not a natural presenter but even I can put a little inflection and visual interest into it. put some Cochran on it..put a little F Lee Bailey in there...sprinkle some Martinez on it geez.

The goal is to make a memorable thought provoking summation...not put people to sleep.

I do not see the goal being met. I see the inside of my eyelids.

DA’s talking so freaking much about Kit’s phone. Where is the data on Joan Harmon’s phone???? Why not exclude Joan through Joan’s phone? She knew what the defense is. Kit was on TV telling the world Joan did it. She isn’t there for those three victims. She is there to get a conviction because the truth is that if Kit is innocent, then there are 4 victims in this case: 3 victims of the murderer and 1 victim of the State of Kentucky.

I thought non-DNA hair comparison analysis was so misleading that it was inadmissible.

  • #478
The dogtag chain-heat-string argument :D:p:eek: Beyond ridiculous! The look on Martin's face - priceless!

Commonwealth lady, imo, again, is confusing the so called facts. She is misquoting. She is losing track of where and what she's doing. Imo, she is showing why he should be found not guilty.

She has got to be the worst I've ever seen. She's like a horrible high school teacher.
